Well a bit about myself, i have been in the army for the last 25 years A citation is below, i now run my own home shopping business with my wife Sue.

Warrant officer Class 2 P R Kearey ME CIS RE
"Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey, finding himself at a loose end and fed up of sponging off his parents enlisted in the Corps of Royal Engineers in October 1986. It may have taken him 2 Years but, when he finally did get through training, he was a fully qualified class 3 signaller and combat engineer so the Corps despatched him onto an unsuspecting 39 Engineer Regiment at Waterbeach. Here he spent his days in the signals wing under the guise of being a command vehicle operator in 34 Field Squadron. Unfortunately being young and naive he was not a successful skiver and found himself actually deploying on numerous exercises, as far away as Germany! He even managed to go to some far-flung parts of the world including Belize, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands. The Army even managed to send him to the Gulf during a minor dispute in 1991. Whilst there he did manage to scrape through his Class 1 Combat Signaller test and also a Ferret Scout & Saxon driver courses.
In July 1991 he was thrown out of 34 Field Squadron and sent to 7 Headquarters Squadron in Nienburg, Germany. Here he was sent to work on more “A” vehicles, as he obviously had not got the hang of them yet. He was disappointed to find himself being sent out on even more exercises and tours this time. At the end of 1991 he was, through a case of mistaken identity, accidentally put on a JNCO Cadre held at 52 Field Squadron in Bruggen and, incredibly, he passed.
Continuing to serve, but this time with a tape on his arm Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey settled into his usual routine of loafing and skiving, with even more tours and exercises. He had obviously by now got the hang of this and managed to bluff his way to such an extent that not only was he promoted to Corporal in 1995, he also qualified as a Regimental Signals Instructor.
To their dismay, in January 1996 28 Engineer Regiment in Hameln found Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey knocking at their camp gates so they dispatched him to the signals wing of 23 Amphibious Engineer Squadron. Finally after 10 years of working with “A” vehicles, the Corps not only let him learn to drive tanks they also taught him to command them as well. Failing to sneak out of a tour, in July 1996 he deployed with the Regiment for a six months to Bosnia where he was kept out of harms way in the Operations Nerve Centre at Fort Invicta a camp with all of 10 people in it! Continuing on in the same theme Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey managed to be in the wrong place at the right time for the Corps and was shuffled about on numerous exercises and tours. Once sick of the sight of him he was dispatched to 32 Engineer Regiment in Hohne.
2 Headquarters Squadron took over the burden of Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey in January 2001. Because of his extended years he found himself in charge of the Regimental CV, far too close to any one of importance. The only way to remedy this was to promote and post him. In July 2003 Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey was found looking lost outside 39 Armoured Engineer Squadron, this time with 3 tapes.
The newly formed 39 Armoured Engineer Squadron welcomed Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey with open arms, (an error on their part) and this time to keep him out the way was dispatched instantly to Op TELIC. A time for reflection by the Regiment and the Squadron, as to what to do with Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey, it had worked once but would it work again, they tried, Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey found himself promoted and posted again this time back to UK.
26 Engineer Regiment found themselves lumbered with Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey in February 2006, soon after arriving, 26 Engineer Regiment realised that maybe they should have sent Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey on his way, so as a short term solution he was sent on Op HERRICK in Afghanistan, surprised at how easy this had been imagine there surprise when he came back early only to cause havoc with their rear party. Desperate for a solution the Corps decided that promotion and posting was the only way to go. Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey was sent packing as far away as possible.
In October 2007 Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey was now a QMSI in the Training Wing of 35 Engineer Regiment. A position of influence! An operational field trial of a new radio system followed, which he thought was outstanding and told anyone that would listen, of course it was it to be delayed coming in to service! With an up coming deployment looming Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey had finally managed not to be required for a tour, this was short lived! After much debate 35 Engineer Regiment managed to get rid of Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey all be it for a short period of time to Kuwait. There then followed a life-time on Rear Party, where the task was set to centralise the Bowman equipment, this finally sent Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey over the edge. Hoping to be posted anywhere that Bowman wasn’t the Corps had there chance and Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey was assigned to the Bowman training and advisory group to teach Bowman until his retirement!
Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey married his long-suffering wife Sue, in October 1992 and they have two loving if not overactive children Stacey and Alanna.
Warrant officer Class 2 Kearey during his career has spent an inordinate amount of time away, he would now really like not to!
