Hi my ds1100 dash has lost its display,can these be repaired? Am sure if it's possible to get a new one it would cost the earth so,are there any second hand units around and are they interchangeable? Thanks steve
If you join multistrada.net, you'll get more replies and help as that site is pretty much dedicated to the air cooled Multi's. Water ingress is an issue with these clocks, you can open them up and often see corrosion on the circuit boards, this can sometimes be cleaned up and the clocks will be fine again, other times they'll need to be sent off to a specialist, you'll find info on who still does this over there. Clocks are coded to the bike so even another used set will need some reprogramming to work on yours, there are guys there who can do this, search out Muiriey on there, he's pretty clever on the clocks.
there is only a very small chance that that can be repaired as often means corrosion has taken hold inside, splitting open would confirm this (as said). The best route is to try and find a good secondhand one, they turn up from time to time. You would have to also get your ECU immobiliser disabled though. A complete set of dashboard/ECU/lock and keys would go straight on and work immediately if you could find a set.

I think it was about £200 (inc shipping, which was quite a bit), but they did some programming to the chip to correct the mileage at the same time. I'm not sure what they'd charge to replace the LCD, but it's worth asking them the question anyway. They done a really neat job, and even though they had to cut open the dash, it was put back together and sealed really tidy so it looks OEM.
