Removing Front Axle Slider

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by darko, Jul 24, 2014.

  1. They were fitted to the bike when I got it but now I need to get the front wheel out I can't get to the axle nut.

How do I remove them ? Are they threaded one side through to the other ?

Hoping someone can help me on this one !

  2. they are usually just a long piece of threaded bar with a nut on each end, you may need to put a socket on each side to undo...

  3. Thanks SteveO916. Turns out they were just a push fit into the hollow axle. A total bastard to remove to be honest !

  4. The best thing to use is a deep socket, to go over the slider and onto the nut. That way the slider remains in place.

  5. True, I only had my JHP wheel nut tool handy at the time, off to buy a socket today

  6. Completely forgot to check what size the front axle nut is :Banghead:

Doen anyone know what size socket I need ?
