Mileage: what's yours?

Discussion in 'Sport Touring' started by Ascalon, Apr 19, 2013.

  1. As I use my ST4s for my daily commute and general transport duties, I tend to rack up miles.

As the ST series is aimed at long distances, I'd imagine that quite a few would have racked up a good mileage.

I rolled over to 45,000 miles this morning, 34,000 of which are mine.

What's on your ST and how many of them are yours?

  2. My ST4 is at 39,000 - all of which is mine except the first 1300 miles... Unfortunately the mileage is not going up at the moment as the bike needs a service, an MoT, and is 8000 miles away :-(

  3. Well, you sir, should learn to pack more carefully.

There's always one who turns up with no socks. ;)

  4. JR45: which site are you at, FOB, bastion, Kabul ?

Whats your opinion of the welfare voice service.

Sorry to hijack the thread, mines on 19000, 2005 bike and its the second time i have owned it. A few more European miles on the way this summer as well.

  5. My ST3 is on 24K, only 2K are mine, but hoping to put on at least 8K this year.

  6. 622 if you look at the mileometer but add about 21k to that to be nearer the truth!

  7. I sold my 2003 ST4s ABS just over a month ago with 48,420 miles on it. 47,420 done by me

  8. A paltry 8200 miles..and I bought the bike last year with just over 7k on it.
Thought I'd be out today, but the batteries fooked, new one will be here Tuesday..(St Neots Motorcycles can stick their £78 replacement right up their arse...)

  9. @ Desmoboy - I'm in the Falklands, not Afghan. Is "welfare voice service" the same as Paradigm? If it is, then it's OK. If not, then sorry, I don't know...

  10. Paradigm, yes.

Didn't think we operated down there yet.

  11. Well, it's good to see a good spread among the mileages there. There certainly is a bit of variation. I reckon I'll be keeping mine for at least another two years, so I'll likely have about 60k on it by the time I change it. I reckon that might make it hard to sell.

  12. Getting on for 37000 lovely enjoyable miles, can sometimes think about getting a bike that might go into turns quicker, scan some triumph adverts, then think, nah can't beat my ST,it's not perfect, but I love it,it's very reliable, and it has this thing called a soul.So it's a keeper .

  13. Just jack up the back a bit and it does wonders for the turn in. I raised the ride height on the back on mine by about 12mm and it really makes a difference. Between the leverage at the bars and extra height, it make it much quicker to turn in without leaving it unstable.

  14. 24k on the fuglystrada and 26k on the Guzzi, almost none of which are mine (maybe 2k on the duc and less than 1 on the guzzi). Shocking really, but life throws us the odd shitter every now and then. Add in the Triumph I sold and it looks more rosy; I put about 6000 miles on that from last summer onwards.

  15. 27000 on my SS half of them are mine over the past 3 years, try to pop over to France at least once a year, thinking of Spain this year, just for a long weekend but always a pleasure to get on some smooth, dry, empty roads :upyeah:

  16. I like mine so much,I'm trying to buy another.
For my brother,I hasten to add.
He's got my old Sprint ST,(which I loved, and so does he)
But I rate the ST2 so much higher
So I've led the horse to water, and he's (hopefully!) about to drink...
Poor bugger...who'd have an older brother like me?
    LOL!

  17. We're doing Northern Spain via Portsmouth-Le Havre/St Nazaire-Gijon ferries in June.
Not done the Gijon ferry before.
    Anyone on here experienced it?

  18. I'm on my second ST4.
My last one died of a cracked frame after going over a speed bump too fast whilst carrying a bit of weight.
It had 91,000 miles on the clock. I bought her on 45k.
I went to Aberdeen to get my second one. It had 14,595 on the clock. I did a few miles short of 16k in the first year.
I've now done 23,000 miles in 19 months.
I LOVE ST4's. And very happy with them. Regularly serviced by Carl Harrison in Harleston, Norfolk. No1 Italian bike specialist.

  19. Update: I'm now on 54k miles on the 4s.

I reckon I'll hit 80k or so before I am willing to contemplate something else.
