Norton 650SS Cam Donald on a McIntosh Suzuki BR1 1135 36/7 Rudge Ulster 350 Banshee Special, bored out to 500cc.
4 seasons in one day. looks just like where i come from, no wonder my mates feel cheated when there out there visiting relatives. no kangaroos?
Was unable to go to the next event last night, the NZ Supercross Champs, was quite good from all accounts.
Today was the NZ Beach Racing Champs, a 1 mile loop, two 1/2 mile straights around a 5 metre radius 180deg turn each end. It was fine but feckin' freezing again, about 13deg C, with a -6degC wind chill factor. 1st picture is looking up the course.... This is the Pre '63/'72 Classics class combined, only 5 bikes this year , a '72 Triumph Trophy 650, a Rudge Ulster 500, a '71 Honda XL 250, a '69 Rickman Metisse 650, and a '58 Matchless Rickman 650...
The race programme consisted of 2 rounds of the classics (3 laps), the up to 500cc (6 laps), Quads (4 laps), Open class (8 laps), up to 250cc (4 laps), plus the 1 mile dash-any bike (1 lap), Open class/any bike Burt Munro Trophy 50 miler (50 laps). Bloody hard to take an interesting photo of a beach race, one of those photo's of the far away bikes is Cam Donald, having a go, along with Aarron Slight.
Tonight it's the meet the "Legends" function, so I will mostly be getting pissed, so I won't be taking any photo's, evidence you see . But I'll be the biggest legend there .
Aaahh no, wasn't a good hangover, now back home after another bash at the sauce today, pissed and struggling to concentrate on computer screen, will try to get a report up.
Ok, today was circuit racing at Teretonga raceway, the southernmost circuit in the world apparently, here's the circuit shape and the race classes/programme, goes anticlockwise...
After the circuit racing came the Speedway, very popular here, I started with good intentions, but then came the beer......
Oohh, by the way, the weather started ok , but 1/2 way thru the speedway it turned to a tropical downpour, except it wasn't tropical, more like glacial, about 5deg C, so meeting was abandoned.
