Some of the keys on my notepad keyboard have packed up. They are adjacent to each other, over two rows, about8 of them in total. The problem is some of the letters are needed for my password to unlock it! I've taken the back off to see if there's a ribbon connector loose etc with no joy. Any ideas?
Nick have a look on u tube for videos showing you how to remove the keypad for your model. I had the same problem with my laptop once , couldn't work out how to remove the keyboard for love money, turned out it was very simple once you knew where the retaining lugs were positioned.
can you plug in a usb keyboard and access it that way? for the password i mean. the lap kboard is probably a replacement job as above.
Nick, pop said notepad onto an anvil and smack fuck out of it with 12lb long shafted hammer. Might not fix problem but It'll feel good. Computers get on my tits.....
I think to plug a keyboard in I'd need to load a driver? I'll check youtube later and give it a go. I would hit it with a hammer, but the drive has lots of photos etc on it ;-)
Don't give up hope. In the worst case you will be able to take the hard drive out and mount it onto another computer, for instance with one of those "caddy" things which cost about £5 and turn a standard drive into a USB-connected external one. SO you should be able to get at your photos etc.
Previously I have had to use a screw driver to prise it up. there are often cutouts in the keyboard edge if you know where to look. OR See if there is a disability option on your log in page and turn on the onscreen keyboard and use your mouse to log in
have you tried turning it upsidedown and shaking it? or compressed air..... might just be crumbs in there. (that's what is usually wrong with mine!)
I've tried the shaking stuff out tip, but it's the way it's a certain lump of letters that makes me feel it's a fault. I don't get an option for a keyboard on screen either :-(
Now I've seen how to remove the keyboard I can't believe how simple it was! And yes, I would've probably broken it if I hadn't seen which three screws hold it in! A new one is cheap so I'll try that first, cheers for all the ideas ;-)
