Sorry no idea but you might find the answer here somewhere: ducatidiag :: Connexion ......maybe someone could answer the same question for the 1200?
The draft manual is wrong................the diag' connection is under the LHS front panel, on a fly lead into the ECU connector. It's under the seat on a MTS1200, but on the 1000 and 1100 is at the ECU.
I should have specified which bike I was talking about and it was in response to Andy.W question. It was the MTS and rechecking the manual there would appear to be two on the MTS one for the ECU and one for ABS.
Virtually every car and van made in the last 10 years has an OBD2 diagnostic connector, which is standard across all makes. It is pretty easy to buy connector plugs and software so you can check on sensors, maps etc for any car (Google or eBay it). Unfortunately various makes of bikes seem to have a variety of different types of connectors, and even modern Ducati ones are not OBD2 standard. This would presumably make using diags more expensive and complex than it needs to be. I hope future models are more sensibly designed. Any views?
I need access to the connector as I have a gear indicator from PZ Racing, coming. This plugs directly into the diagnostic connector. Pete
The car systems have been ahead of, and more complex, than the bike system for a while now. MTS, Diavel and more so Panigale have moved on drastically in terms of CAN systems. The OBD2 is widely used and easily employed because a lot of the car components are generic. Bike manufacturers still tend to employ more bespoke solutions, albeit using similar ECU's. I personally can't see OBD2 coming over. The number of data channels it provides aren't needed and i believe the bikes will still use bespoke systems. I hope it doesn't change as I've just had to upgrade my Diags and there's only two connectors in there. I'd personally be very weary of plugging anything other than diagnostic equipment into that connector Pete. It's wired directly to the ECU and runs lower voltage than the bike.....
Multistrada 1200 diagnostics sockets / plugs / connectors Ok I was being lazy ............had a look through the workshop manual: ....but some confusion as I also found this reference: ....which may be yet another error in the manual?
F is the general diag connection. E is the diag socket for ABS. I think the confusion is from the OP asking where is was on his 1100S
Ok, next question.... Where is the wheel speed sensor? Front or rear wheel and where is the connector for that?
.....it's the rear ABS sensor that also sends 'data' for the speedo/odo (MTS1200's) Thanks, I can see that now, (I) on the first image is (E) in the second
Found it. Plugged in the gear indicator and it's working but it's a bugger to calibrate. The bike nearly hopped off the paddock stand when I tried it. Took it out on the road and couldn't find a quiet enough road to do it. So, off with the back wheel and try again on the paddock stand.
Pete.........add your bike/model details in your Profile (see here;-) .........I keep forgetting you're not talking about a 1200 ;-)
Found the ECU connector, right by the battery. The wheel speed sensor was on the RHS attached to the frame just here All ok and just gotta calibrate it now. Tried a few times but my revs/ speed is all wrong so gotta try again tomorrow. The unit itself is great and it has 6 selectable colours for the backlight. The F option, which is blue, is identical to the backlight in the bikes screen. Anyway here is a pic of the unit in place. Will get a pic later of it in the dark so you can see the colour. Pete
