One of these, is it a measuring stick? Is there not another way if so? DUCATI 848 RIDE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT TOOL | eBay
Thanks Paul. I've seen them but are they going to be the same as the Ducati ones? I don't suppose it'd matter normally but I'm fitting the trx with a ride height adjuster and want to get the ride height something like before I start tinkering with the suspension. How did you do yours when you fitted your ohlins? Did you fit an adjustable ride height as well?
Yes mate, that's probably the best option at the moment. Might have to go for that unless someone has one for sale. How does everyone go about setting their ride height without one of these? Is there another way around it?
I would think there are a lot of ways of measuring if you have a known reference point from another bike. Are you trying to set it at a pre determined unit using that thingy?
Simple fact is, the right tool is always better than a cobble together one. Yeah I get the irony of the statement before anyone chips in Chances are any on ebay are fine, and probably colies of some other more expensive ones
Thing is, I'm trying to get into the more technical side of the bike and doing a lot of reading up on how to go about sorting the suspension. I've read that before messing with the suspension it's imperative to get the ride height right. And all the numbers I've seen have been taken by using this tool. But that's just it, are everyone's tools all the same? If not, them numbers will be worth naff all. Just trying to get some pointers... They also go on to say that while tightening the chain, you are affecting / increasing the height so needs readjusting...
The tool is used to give a standard and repeatable datum. Measuring from fixed point A to fixed point B will give the same functionality.
But not a direct reference to other settings, especially if it's a copy with slight differences in hole centres.
Exactly! So how does everyone go about sorting this? Or nobody bothers cause it bollox??? I'm new to this so just trying to find out.
