When I bought my Multi the London-based selling dealer told me that 7,500-mile services (6 months) would cost about £400 and 15,000-mile or yearly services around £800. It charges £90 per hour labour so I looked elsewhere. And when I took my bike to Snell's for its yearly service the bill was just over £200 - because the cam belts didn't need doing as I'd only done 9,600 miles. I paid a similar amount for the six-month service and changed the oil and filter at 3,500 miles because I thought it prudent as 600 to 6,000 miles was too long an interval for a new engine and I was going on a long trip. So I'm a bit confused. Does Ducati go by mileage or time?? I don't want to run into any warranty-claim issues. I could call Ducati UK for clarification but I'm sure I can get the answer here! Thanks.
The service schedules call for the bike to be serviced every 12 months. This is the annual or oil service. There are then "Desmo" services carried out every 7500 miles. These should be done alongside the annual service if the mileage is close to, or over, the 7500 figure. Belts are done at 15k or 5 years (that's a big service). Brake fluids are replaced every three years, and coolant is now a 4 year job. The service schedules are in the service handbook and also on Ducati.com
My Multi is just coming up to a year old and it has 7200 miles on the clock, so I took it in for its 12month/7500 mile service at CMW Chichester. £155.60. It also had a number plate bulb and lens, and a front brake reservoir seal replaced FOC under warranty. I've always had very good service from CMW and their prices are fair. However, they have now lost their Ducati franchise because their display and service area's aren't up to Ducati standards!! Give me excellent customer service, reasonable prices and skilled/experienced mechanics over shiny floors any day! Kevin
Interesting that you say you needed a new front brake reservoir seal as mine intermittently loses a tiny amount of fluid from the cap. Usually removing the seal, cleaning it and replacing solves the problem but its done it twice in less than a year now. Is it a common problem?
Got that thank you. The little red service book doesn't explain that very well. I need to eat some humble pie and apologies to Mr. Heath.
