So Pandora Has Had Her First Service

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by El Toro, May 31, 2014.

  1. Well today I took Pandora in for her first service. And matt46 came with me too on his new (and fixed) ZX10R. :)

As she was going to be incommunicado for a few hours I'd arranged to have the new Monster 1200 as a loan bike again. Well I had a blast. This bike is so much fun to ride! It only took me a couple of minutes to get used to it before I was chucking it about all over the place. :D

When we finally stopped in Alderly Edge for a coffee Matt was chuckling like mad at how I'd ridden her like a loon all round Cheshire :D But this bike is so easy to ride. Very light and flickable, and in sports mode it has a fair bit of grunt too. :upyeah:

Anyway we got back to Ducati Manchester about midday to pick up Pandora after her service.

From there we came back "over the tops" to Holmfirth via Greenfield and the "isle of Skye" road. And now I was able to open her up. And she loves it! And so did I!

The 899, like a porn star, likes to be ridden hard :D

I dropped off my bag with my service book at home then Matt and I headed off to Squires at Sherburn in Elmet, for a coffee. There was a bike open day being held there so there were hundreds of bikes and thousands of people there mooching around :upyeah:

I have to say once again that the 899 is an absolutely awesome bike. Agile, nimble, powerful, and great looking. And in the words of Carl Fogarty "it's comfortable" too. And now it's been run in I can have some real fun on it!

If you are thinking of getting the 899 or are in two minds then give it a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed. :)

All in all I think we've done around 170/180 miles today and it's been great.

Wonder if I can swing another day out tomorrow? ;)

  3. I'm sure I remember reading that the new 899 responds well if there's a fair few miles ridden the couple of days after a service. Something to do with needing the run to circulate the new fresh oil...

  4. i hope ducati uk don't read this but i didn't wait for the fist service to kick in before i opened it up. not that patient.

  5. Me neither, think I gave it 400 miles and then thought time to unleash the beast.

  6. I know a beautiful girl called Pandora.

  9. Did you get to see her box though? (Best said in a Welsh accent in pants!)

  10. If you hadn't rushed in front to get to ferrybridge I'd have found it ;)

  11. yeah but... that coffee tasted good & made it all worthwhile.

  12. How many miles had you on her when serviced?

  13. 599. On the dot.

  14. Did the service light come on then?
Mine was 631 until it lit.

  15. No. I just had it booked in for then and managed to get it close to 630 miles.

Apparently the light used to come on even though the 899 had been serviced and you had to take it in again to get the dealer to switch it off but they now have a "fix" that deals with that. So all is good. :)

  16. I was before the 600 mark, about 550 and the service thingy now comes on. I was told it would and just take it back for reprogramming.

  17. Like I said, they now have an immediate fix for that now :upyeah:
