  2. Coming out of the showroom today at DS 959 with 1299 exhaust fitted and new bottom panels, looks like the 1299 cans have just gone up in value

  3. Are you saying the 1299 exhaust fits the 959?

  4. I sold mine on ebay last week to someone putting them on a new 959, got a feeling it was this one as posted the system direct to the dealer.

  5. Yes mate

  6. Stoke?

  7. The 899 and 1199 exhausts will also fit as long as you fit the complete system.

  8. isn't the 959 exhaust ports larger though compared to 899? thought the exhaust was a larger diameter on the 959 and 1299

the dealer i ordered mine from said ducati may cut the lower fairing to fit an underbelly exhaust rather than have to fit 1299 lower fairings.

  9. Yea fairly sure it was

  10. Why? Get an 899 or a 1299.

  11. Why not? + it removes the flapper valve and did sound loud like a Ducati should

  12. If its the pipes I sold it was the whole system being fitted from a 1299, so flapper etc still fitted as also inc the motor, not sure if the cans would fit the 959 headers but think the whole system has to be swapped.

  13. Think they said the motor wasn't fitted to the 959

  14. I'm guessing this owner thought the standard cans looked shit and wanted to swap them for the 1299 ones. Can't blame him to be honest, it's exactly what I would do too.

  15. its not really a cost effective way to do it IMO. the cost totally out weighs any aesthetics gained.

The cost of the lower fairings plus the exhaust is a huge % of the cost of the new bike.

The only way that makes sense is if you can find good used lower fairings for sale.

Personally in the flesh i dont mind the new cans and the akrapovic is actually really nice looking but again, is it worth £1300 to save 1.5kg and look slightly better? IMO no.

I think the new layout opens the door to other manufacturers coming up with something different for the bike. It will be interesting to see what term, arrow, leo vince etc come up with and I'm sure akrapovic will have different designs availableliek the s1000rr and zx10 have different styles available.

  16. The picture shows the standard cans, not Akrapovic's so I don't expect it cost them a huge amount of money. I'm not sure if the 899 lowers fit straight onto the 959, but if they do then I reckon you could do this conversion for around £500, which would be worth every penny.

  17. £500 wouldn't be out of the question i guess if i flt that strongly about it. Personally if it were me doing it, i would probably want to fit an aftermarket exhaust like the akrapovic or termi while going to the trouble.

i suppose you can get a decent set or lower fangs for £200-£300 and a used termi for around £750 ish so could potentially do a '1299' conversion for the cost of the new DP akrapovic double shotgun cans.

im not sure if the 899/1199 exhaust would fit though as i thought the 959 and 1299 had larger diameter exhausts?

  18. They would fit because even though the 959/1299 have larger diameter headers (60mm vs 57mm I think) the size of the flange which bolts onto the cylinder heads is the same. You'd need to get a custom map installed for your Termi's/899/1199 cans as well obviously.

  19. All down to opinions, exactly what I wouldn't do. Personally, belly pipes look shit and a tadd common.

  20. I couldn't agree more (regarding it being down to opinions). I bet the 959 is a cracking ride, whether it has under-belly cans or the shotgun ones...
