  1. My 2007 1098 has over 20'000 on the clock, still pulls like a train with a lovely smooth box and no chunks of metal in the oil on service . Great bike but can be imbarrasing in creaping traffic when it decides to just cut out:confounded::motorcycleduc:

  2. I Know what you mean, after passing a long line of static traffic queueing at some temporary lights at the weekend and arriving at the front of the queue my 1198S promptly stalled just as the lights turned green...doncha just love it!...culprit is i think the TPS, really need to get it sorted.

  3. Old thread I know but I purchased this bike last month for 7.5k from St neots, had it delivered and rode 6miles before rear brake seized up and had to have rear disc rear pads and rear master cylinder. Then once that was fixed 20mile ride and oil leaking from the rear head! Bike was returned for refund. Also found out previous owner had dropped it and all left side had been painted!! So a 1 owner bike with 3200 miles had new tyres new belts new battery new mot new pads new disc new master new fuel tank new water outlet on front head new rear headgasket. Its now up for 8k with them.

  4. I looked at that bike a couple of times, not close enough apparently as it looked mint. To be fair though it seemed a decent price, and they would have covered the repairs I expect.

  5. How did you find out it had been dropped and painted? Contacted previous owner, or saw for yourself. Just wondering if I didn't notice because I didn't have my specs.

  6. I noticed very small imperfections under lacquer on front fairing and u could feel a marsking line on tail section and also orange peel looking and flat paint around side stand area. Then contacted previous owner and he said he dropped it.
So it had all left side painted plus nose fairing and seat unit .
Also dash and headlights kept misting up which is common and going from 1st to 2nd was very clunky so took my money back as its going to turn into a problem bike

  7. Do you think it was a private repair? If insurance was paying I'd want new parts. Did the previous owner mention the tank?

  8. Was prob a private repair tbh and he knew about tank as I think they knocked him down on price when they bought it from him but he then told me after he sold it that ducati would of done it free as a good will lol . Tank was £1600 !!

  9. Wonder if the dealer got the tank free on goodwill? I did seriously consider offering £7k for the bike, but everyone on here said the 1198 is a better and stronger bike.

  10. No way on earth will u get it for 7k lol
I had to beg and beg to get free delivery in the 7.5k I payed for it
    They had to buy tank

  11. Like I said I've known them for years, and bought bikes from them in the past. Too many owners now though :grinning:.

  12. It was originally up for 8.5k then dropped to 7.5k
they have had to buy it from guy then new tank new tyres new battery new belts new service new mot new rear disc new rear master new rear pads new rear headgasket new coolant elbow new coolant and its now up for 8k

  13. I know, I mean't when it was up at £7.5k. But now you've told everyone it's been dropped, you've rejected it, and it's a going to be a problem bike.

  14. Well I only had it for only 26miles and had 2 problems which is not good...its a problem bike unfortunately but made me smile

  15. If I understand correctly, the dealer fixed the faults on a 12 year old bike, and still took it back? If so I think they were pretty fair with you.

  16. They were fair and I never said they wasn't, in fact probably the best dealer I've ever dealt with. If it wasn't for the oil leak and them giving refund it would still be sitting in my garage. I've been riding 29yrs and never experienced probs with a bike in such short miles and I've owned about 16bikes .Just one of those things, not there fault its the bike and prob due to lack of use
