  1. Thanks again for the reply :upyeah: Sounds good. Will look at ordering one tomorrow before the offer ends.

  5. It's arrived. Seems solid enough, quite a bit of metal in the body. I was expecting plastic. The mount, which I'm nit intending to use, looks well made. Screen seems bright enough. Absolutely no instructions whatsoever, not even on the outside of the box.

Bench testing and the one real annoyance is that the screen resolution is just too fine. Everything is incredibly small to the point of being unusable on the bike, especially as I'm at the point of needing reading glasses for fine print etc. Need to take it out in the car, just to check if the MRA map will zoom in once your moving, before attempting to mount it to the bike. If it doesn't not sure what to do. It might have to go back... the AliExpress free returns thing is either giving me a blank page at the moment or an "under maintenance" message.

  6. I think the lack of instructions is typical of these units, irrespective of manufacturer. Carpuride may be the exception. From various sources, I'd already gleaned that the yellow wire is switched live, red is permanent live and black is earth. Sorry to hear about the resolution. Do you not have similar issues when using your phone? I don't have any experience of Android Auto, but CarPlay's text size is generally the same if not larger than that of the phone. Certainly MRA's display zooms in and out based on speed (as do other maping apps).

  7. On the phone it works fine. More in the way of options too as not working with the cut down AA version of the app. Resolution is perfectly OK plus, if necessary, you can zoom.

On the L200 it's pretty basic, which is fine, I know that from using it in the car. However, the high resolution screen of the L200 means it's all tiny, map detail as well as any options, and next to useless for bike use.

Have just done a run in the car using the L200 on the passenger seat and there's no zooming at all. Looks like I've made a bad decision on this one, had high expectations so disappointed. Will cool my heels for the weekend and decided what to do.

EDIT: Have just found the Zoom Correction Factor in the MRA phone menu. This, turned up to maximum, helps a little but not really enough. Have posted on the MRA forum to see if there's a solution.

  8. Really sorry you've been disappointed. Curious to know how the Carpuride compares.

  9. Found out how to get into Android Auto developer mode on my phone this morning, there's a resolution option. Thought this would be the answer. Alas not the case. The lowest one 800x400 just flat out refuses to work, AA won't start on the L200. With the other options available it starts but there's no change in resolution...

Bear in mind this screen is only 6.3" diagonally.

Found, in tiny text on the box, needed a magnifying glass, details of a seemingly UK registered company. This has an email address next to it with a Chinese top level domain... Have fired off an email asking for support, not holding my breath.

  10. Is it like that when it’s actually navigating? Or is that just the overview.

  11. Both, not usable in that form. Took it for a drive in the car with a route running. Apparently it works OK for Apple CarPlay, just an issue with Android Auto.

There's the ability to perform an OTA firmware update in the menu. Well, it downloads something, not sure if applies an update or not though, foolishly didn't note the version number first. The download completes and that's it, end of...

  12. Interesting. Been using myrouteapp on my Samsung and like it a lot. With one major issue. When not actually navigating to anywhere specific, the screen is zoomed out so far it is useless. Probably should raise the question on the mra forum, but wondering why buy a nav unit when you can use on the phone? Therefore reducing the amount of clutter on the bike.
If I just want to see the road I am riding without navigating I can switch to gmaps as a work around.

edit. MRA app seems to make much better decisions than gmaps or Garmin, when entering a final destination, without a pre determined route.

  13. MRA works well on my phone too. Just trying to save it's delicate camera stabilisation mechanism as well as gaining a slightly bigger display. Last year I invested in an SP Connect mounting system for my phone ahead of a trip to Germany. Well engineered and includes wireless power, can't fault their sysyem bar the somewhat salty price. I've just had a no quibble replacement of the wireless charging pad, that includes extra vibration damping, after I found a split on the outer sheathing of a cable. Replacement arrived within 24 hours. They're an Austrian company but have a UK distributor. Highly recommended.

Used the phone alongside my now sold Zumo XT for the trip to Germany and MRA food a far better job quite frankly.

Inclined to just revert to using the phone, with the SP Connect mount as other than the concerns about damage to the phone it all works well. In fact yesterday I purchased yet another part of their modular system, £70 but a one time code they provided knocked 20% off of that. It's an adapter bracket, with AMPS hole pattern, to mount to my Ducati Sat nav bracket above the instruments. This is where I was going to mount the Android Auto screen which I'm now all but resigned to returning to China.

  15. Interesting.

This is my view (no route set):

  16. Thanks Gary. That works well in MRA on the phone, absolutely no effect on the Evkey though. The MRA controls on there are very limited. Google maps is better, but not a patch on when I tried this morning with my partners iPhone. It appears that the Android Auto implimentation on the L200 is very much the jilted sister, never the bride, of the CarPlay side. Probably not helped by the fact that AA in MRA is relatively in it's infancy. At least I can zoom in on Google Maps in AA, this isn't possible in MRA.

Will wait for any responses from the various emails I've sent, not holding my breath, before returning it next week for a refund.

Google Maps CarPlay, looks like scaling is good

Google Maps (zoomed in) on AA

Might well zoom out at the first junction and start there. Icons on left far too small.

    MRA on AA

And that's with the Zoom Compensation setting on it's maximum setting of ++

I do see your point... but over my cold dead body.

  19. This is my set up. With an iconic mount to the screen on the multi. This was a tad wobbly tbh, the screen itself has some flex. I ended up tying the QL vibration mount down a little with a couple of cable ties
