Multibike Insurance.

Discussion in 'Insurance - Sponsored by Ducati Insurance' started by pauly, Apr 27, 2024.

  1. I'm not sure Bennetts have worked this out. Individually around £220 for my 22 plate S1000RR and £260 for a 15 plate Panigale 1299 S. Multibike policy for them both around £740. I remember why I binned them a couple of years ago now.

  2. Have they quoted you separately for 1 bike with your NCD from each. You can only use NCD once. The multi bike policy would be more expensive for that reason.

I’m dreading my bike renewal, car policy has gone up £300

  3. AFAIK the idea of multi bike is to mirror the no claims on to another bike. I rang Bennetts up, and the nice lady on the phone couldn't understand it either. As an example, they quoted £550 for the same cover 2 weeks ago.

  4. Every time I’ve had quotes for multi bike policies they are way more than insuring all my bike separately. All the bikes I’ve renewed so far this year have been less to insure than last with a bit of shopping around.

  5. Are you able to use NCD on more than one bike?

  6. No unfortunately, new bike new policy starting with zero ncb. You get stung the first year but after that I’m old enough and been riding long enough that it drops right down in price.

  7. My carol Nash policy for 2 bikes (1260S muttley and 1098R) hadn't gone up much

  8. Despite being older and around the same value as my S1000RR, some insurers declined to quote on the 1299S.

  9. When I was in the UK I had a few issues with Bennetts and their ‘computer says no’ approach to clients.
Fixed, by taking my business elsewhere.

  10. I'm with post #4, i've spent 40 odd minutes on the dog & bone three times now only for them to say you'd have them insured individually........perhaps that's down to the high values on each machine, i just don't know, but what i do know's the insurance broker / regulatory authorities and ombudsman are all total tossers based on my experience over the years.!

Oh and don't forget to include Ofgem.

  11. So are you suggesting that if I have 2 bikes that are insured separately with 2 different insurers I should only get a NCB once on one of them? I hope not!

  12. No im not. I’m saying if you use your ncb on bike 1 then you can’t use those same ncb on bike 2. Then each bike will gain its ncb year on year.

  13. I've had a Classic car policy that doesn't apply any NCD, for 15 years. How do you explain that?

  14. I’ve no idea I don’t work in insurance

  15. Same here

  16. You use your NCB on bike one, on bike 2 you have zero NCB but the second year you claim 1 years NCB on bike 2. If you have 9 years NCB you can’t claim it twice, on 2 bikes.

  17. In my experience underwriters can do what they like when it comes to NCD, there are no hard and fast rules.

  18. Because classic policies don't accrue NCB
If you switch to classic from normal you lose your NCB. Good if you have multiple classic vehicles on one policy, as they are usually value for money.

  19. After 15 years of classic car policies I'm well aware of this. My question was, why not?

  20. My Multibike policy with Bikesure went up a small amount this year, but to be honest I was a little pleasantly surprised at how little it went up.
They have always been really easy to deal with in regards to swapping and changing the bikes on the policy, so I've stuck with them without putting too much effort into getting quotes elsewhere.
I know they rely on people being lazy and not getting quotes elsewhere, but I’ve learnt over the years that an insurance company who are easy to deal with when you need them are worth paying a little extra for.
They also supported me really well last year when I had a non-fault accident on my 999.

Being a Land Rover driver my car insurance went up significantly this year, and actually my Boat insurance took a hike as well, but I was expecting those.

I’ve got to a point where I view insurance as a sort of Occupational hazard that just has to be put up with.
