Z1000 2014

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by comfysofa, Apr 5, 2015.

  1. Well, as I say, if the sf's forks are the same as my rsv4's then it might be good upgrade and all itll cost is a bottle of oil...im pretty rehearsed now stripping the forks down - I can have them out, apart and back together in about 90 mins...

At work at the moment and its outside my window behind me....bloody lovely outside, my mate is pining as well (he's got a zzr1440 sp edition) and he keeps coming round, looking out the window, then saying "shall we fuck off to Weston?" and then walks away again....

  2. Well bloody well do it then Comfy.
Seize the moment for tomorrow it may piss down :)

  3. Heh - I wish....my missus would be pulling on my leash....plus 3 kids at home that need sorting out also...its a school week!

Don't think im seriously going to get out on any kind of trips for a little while. We're going to the TT this year and the British moto gp...the idea is to mix in some trips to ace café (never been before), poole bike nights and also Weston bike nights...

  4. Took some better photo's today and a bit of vid....even with the dbkillers in it distorts the speaker on my phone....hel brake lines yet to go on and waiting for chris at cjs to breath on it....

Aesthetically it wont change much but ive still got a lot to do with regards to weatherproofing it....nitron shock next year for the rear, down one tooth on the front sprocket as its really low geared (can pull like a train in top from 25mph). While normally id cover in stainless i may try titanium as on my weight scale, its on a par with the rsv4 to push up my driveway, which is a 6am sunday morning requisite for me....hyper was a tad lighter, id say about 10% and a few % heavier than the rsv4....

  5. Here it is distorting the speaker on my phone, and that's with the baffles in, its loud still but not "ear splitting loud..."

Maybe next (or later on this year) Ill be able to afford some AR can's but at 850gbp for a set they aint cheap but they do come with a variety of dbkillers...

  6. Bloody hell, that sounds loud!

Someone's going to ping you for parking in the disabled spot I reckon.

  7. Ah - that was at work, yesterday at 7am....its on a trading estate so there was no one around....

  8. As you may know, I really like Kawasakis.......particularly the ZZR1100, ZX10 and even the 1000RX despite it's seroius lack of handling and top heaviness............

...........but I really can't get excited about Comfy's bike.........(well, not his, specifically)...............it just looks to me as though it has been driven headlong into a wall, while a very heavy rider stayed in the saddle.

  9. Absolutely fine...I like it cos its short fat and stocky, its has the rear end of an rsv4 and a front like no other...I'm really pleased with it!

  10. I actually really like that, think it looks purposeful and aggressive.

    Big thumbs from me

  11. I don't mind them. I had one for a day when I was deciding on a new bike (ended up with a M1100). I thought it was a pretty decent road bike though they have too many exhausts(!).

Do they still have the yellow/orange tint on the clocks? That drove me mad, it was like peering through a Lucozade bottle.

  12. No the new ones have different clocks but in all fairness im not over the moon about the rev counter (it goes up the side to 3k-LCD) and then across the top (in LED) which smacks of gimmick to me, that's really about it though. The exhausts, yes I agree but, in a way its almost the way, you buy a zed, you change the pipes and the defacto ones that everyone seems to go for were brawlers, I did almost go for a single exit arrow system but decided against it, not sure why though, although im still happy, I will however (when I can afford it) probably switch to the AR cans, but theyre 850 quid! so they'll have to wait. One thing I did decide last night was to loose the silver side panels as that's the only bit of silver on the bike and put some satin black CF panels on instead to simplfy the colour scheme....

As for the clocks, im considering going for a motoscope pro set of clocks, ive just got a set powered up on my KTM and they are without doubt the best set of clocks ive ever seen on any bike, plus, they do more than the stock clocks and monitor more and give more information....

  13. Thanks Damo, i will say last night was the first night i ragged it a little, its not seen the dyno yet and with the full system on there its running lean so i don't want to push it too much, but, boy is it fast, i cant wait to get it to Chris...!

This morning i did my usual commute and there was a lad on a gsxr750 slightly in front of me, as we came off a roundabout and then onto a dual carriageway - i saw the back of his sink down and then he hunkered down behind the fairing so i opened mine up (id guess about 70-80% throttle) and went past him sitting up....and didn't even get into 6th....that made me smile - a lot...

  14. Just to follow this up - its going to CJS tonight....cant wait for the results...reading up on various forums the general consensus is that the ECu in my zed is much better than the previous incarnation. Also ive since found that arrow will sell me the single exit collector so I can switch between a single and dual exit system...excellent!

Mine'll be the first Zed that Chris has done so im the guinea pig as it were but more than happy to let Chris have it as he knows his stuff.

  15. That's a very nice Zed Mr.Comfy :upyeah:
Talking of Zeds I had rather a nice Z1-A many moons ago, when I was bad-ass :Shifty:....trouble was every where I parked you'd always have some oldish codger saying "oooh,I remember these when they were new! That's not your bike is it lass?"

  16. Thanks very much. Its a little better looking now....changed the silver panels for black ones...and put the guard from the stock collector on the arrow one...

Im currently ducati-less at the moment but ive gotta say I think my RSV4's days are numbered....I really am missing something ducati-engine'd....

  17. I will be interested to hear the outcome on the zed keep us posted, good luck.

  18. Yep....your telling me....gonna see if I can get out tomorrow from work, get over there and get some video of it getting thrashed on the dyno....my theory is that with the full system on there it will be less than the 140 bhp....

  19. Skiving again tut tut, so when will you get bike back tomorrow eve?

  20. Dunno....I'm the guinea pig....he's not done one before but has the ecu dumped and about 50 or so points mapped out...

Just to add that he's made a start on it and found the ex valve so that's the first thing to go although it definitely wont be ready today, but id rather him take his time and get it running well, (which I know is the only way he knows...) - cant wait..
