Bike Buying Dilemma

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by thespionkop, Jul 5, 2015.

  1. Exactly. Having done track days on the 848 and always hovered mid pack, I just didn't expect to be that much quicker on the KTM. First and only trackday I managed on that bike due to the theft. [emoji31]

  2. The tuono: yeah....It should be more naked as it were it's got those fairing sidepanels which I don't like...However a la my rsv4 the sound of the motor is amazing....

  3. I've got a 990 SMT. Its just an SMR with a screen and a comfy(ish) seat. Its a great bike but none of the KTM 990s are the best pillion bikes really if you're looking to take the boss out occasionally.
They complement a Ducati well though because although they're both short stroke V-twins the KTMs have an utterly different character. The 990s are vibey and manic like two stroke moto-crossers. They demand a different riding style and put you in a different mood.
Ducs and Ktoomers make good stable mates.

  4. Yes, indeed they do :)

  5. From what I've experienced, that lc8 motor is bulletproof too.

  7. Looked at the KTM, while I acknowledge they are fab bikes I don't fancy the looks of it.

I have the 1098s for sale and may well stick to the new R1 (bought in May but have only put about 300m on her) on the road and try and behave on the road.

  8. Go and have a ride on an MT09, torque laden triple with no vibes, comfortable, light & relatively cheap. I had ago on one at the weekend, really liked it. free acrapovic pipe at the moment as well.
