1198 Throttle Stuck Open

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by duc daz, Jul 5, 2015.

  1. Went for a ride after a 8 months layoff from a back injury, was realy looking forward to it,and all was well until I pulled away from a junction, the bike took off on its own,I panicked and put both feet down ,pulled the front brake and pulled the clutch in.the back wheel started spinning up,like a burnout,so I hit the kill switch, then I turned the bike on again and rode home slowly.im so glad there wasn't any traffic in front of me or that I wasn't on a bend.in 25 years off riding,I've never experienced anything like this and have lost confidence with the bike,1198s

  2. Am I right in thinking there was a spate of stuck throttles on either the 848 or 1198 a few years ago?

  3. Could it be the 8 months off the bike caused some throttle cable issue?

  4. Scary
