  1. As i am yet to receive my bike just trying to get the odds and sods sorted now,i have just noticed in the hand book that the bike comes with a battery maintainer lead already fitted do any of you guys that have there bike confirm what plug is needed to connect to it.

  2. today someone said whats the thing showing by the rear spring, I didn't know. A bit later I was at my dealership and I was told it was an opt...something lead, its a standard type lead that you can plug a battery conditioner/trickle charger. I bought an oxford oximiser 900 there and then, it plugs directly into that port.

  3. nice one i take it an optimate 6 will fit thanks.

  4. I assume it would, its a square two pin arangement with a locking latch. Just bear in mind this extract from the owners manual....
"Using charge maintainers not approved by Ducati could damage the electric system; vehicle warranty does not cover the battery if damaged due to failure to comply with the above indications, since it is considered incorrect maintenance."

  5. when i picked up my new 1200S it came with a trickle charger for free my dealer said it should be used if the bike was going to sit for any longer than 2 weeks .

  6. Mine came std with a tickle charger as well, connection point was front left hand side just below the faring

  7. Hi folks. I have my 1200s on order and should hopefully take delivery of it in July. You have me curious. I have used optimates for years, but I have never been supplied the connection cable with the bike as a standard fitment. My Diavel had a 12 volt din socket point for the Ducati charger, but it would not work with an optimate with a din connector, so a connector lead had to be attached directly to the battery. Can you please confirm whether the battery charger lead has been fitted to your Multistrada by the dealer as part of the deal that they offer to their customers or are they coming from the factory like that. Thanks

  8. To use the din connector you need one that is able to charge via canbus as a regular charger with a din connector is not sufficient. I think there is an Optimate 4 canbus edition that has two selectable programs , one for regular and the other for canbus charging.
Either way a pig tail fitted directly to the battery and then a "traditional" Optimate style charger is fine.

  9. Any battery tender can be made to work with the 4 way diagnostic connector. All that is needed is a four way Sicma Miniseal connector

4 Way Black Sicma/Fci Socket | Automotive Connectors | Simtek (Uk) Ltd

Two of the pins go straight to the battery + and -

If you want to know which pins to utilise then PM me

The only issue with CanBus is if you connect the wrong pins. The other two pins are Can High and Can Low used for diagnostics

  10. Thanks. I have an ordinary optimate 4 and a dual programme (canbus) edition that I bought to use on my BMW, but the Diavel did not like it. So I went for the traditional attachment lead and used the standard optimate. I'm just keen to establish whether the lead on the Multistradas that the guys above are talking about is a standard fitment or the dealers have kindly fitted them as a no cost addition for their customers. I wouldn't be without one. I left the attachment lead on my Diavel when I sold it, so I need to know whether to buy another for the arrival of my new bike.

  11. The diagnostic type connector is like this

    Common tender connectors are

    SAE [IMG]

    Tamiya [IMG]

    CTEK use their own [IMG]

  12. As long as the lead is directly connected to the battery you do not have to worry about candus comparability . However if you charge it through the auxiliary outputs, then maybe you do.

  13. The op
The optimate connector must be standard on the 2015 model because the dealer made no mention of fitting it themselves

  14. As said , as far as i am aware its now standard fitment

  15. Excellent. Thanks.

  16. No optimate connector on mine folks!!

  17. If you buy the Ducati maintainer quoted in this heading it plugs straight into the diagnostic plug under the seat so no need for any extra leads

  18. As far as I am aware it is not. :)

I had to fit an optimate lead myself.

  19. Asked in Riders about this a while back, and they said it comes as standered ?
Mind you they could be confused :)
