  1. Not yet a Ducati owner but if all goes to plan I will be by the end of September. Got my eyes on a Monster 821 (currently riding a 2011 Suzuki GSX-R600).

If anyone has a bit of feedback on the Monster, I'd be really grateful as I'm not too familiar with Ducatis at all. Got a test ride booked next week but it'd be good to know from people who already ride em!

  2. Hello from Stroud where, coincidently, I dropped my son at the station to go to Canterbury for a boys weekend.

  3. Try the bigger one :)

  4. I think I might have to you know! Bit of a power jump for me but I'll definitely give it a blast.

  5. Are you suggesting I should leave the city for the weekend? Avoid the trouble...

  6. Hi Pipeburn76,

You might want to join the UK Monster Owners Club Forum (UK Monster Owners Club as well as this forum. The Kent region of UKMOC is very active, and I know at least one person who attends the Kent events (JP) has an 821 Monster.

I've ridden the 1200 but not the 821 so can't comment on the latter. (I have a 696 and my other half has a 695 Monster).

If the 821 is like other Monsters, coming from a JIL4, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised by the existence of torque, love the sound of the engine, hate the useless rear brake, and grumble about low speed manners (under 30 mph a slight lumpiness/feeling that it's not happy in either 1st or 2nd gear), although the 1200 (the other new watercooled Monster) had better low speed manners than earlier Monsters.

  7. Nothing wrong with the m1100s in my books. Huge torque, great chassis and enough power! Suspect your 600 may have more power than all of them (except the new 1200) but....barely more than half the torque

  8. Thanks for the heads up on the Monster Owners Club MrsC_772, will definitely have to check it out and get involved. I'm not a bike commuter and generally avoid towns and built up roads that I can't open the throttle on, so hopefully the low speed issues won't be such a problem. Cheers for the info and I'm now convinced I'll have to give the 1200 a go!

  12. Hey pipeburn, fellow newbie from the Kent area. Currently on an 1100 Monster but looking to change up to the 1200 or a Diavel. I'd definitely recommend the bigger Monster, you'll get bored with the 821 I'd wager. Give me a shout if you ever fancy a ride :upyeah:

  13. Hi and welcome from the nicer end of the country :) where it's raining :(
