Thinking Of Getting A Hyper Again.......

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Lee-46, Aug 31, 2015.

  1. Hi everyone,

I used to have a Hyper 1100S in 2008 but only had it for 6-8 months or so. Since then I've had various bikes and last year I bought a 2010 1100 Evo SP. It was hardly getting used and none of my friends had any bikes so I decided to sell it.

Then all of a sudden my mates started buying big bikes again so I ended up buying a naked Blade Honda CB1000R. It's great, it's easy to ride and it slows me down a bit in a straight line being naked but.......... it's just not a Ducati!

I'm considering getting the new shape Hypermotard 821 SP but wondering how well it will perform on UK roads with my friends 1999 R1's and a 2008 Blade? Some other friends only have 600's too. And also any experience compared to my CB1000R I have now?

On a 200 mile round trip into the Brecon Beacons last week I think it proved to me that you can't use all the power of Superbikes anymore anyway......?

  2. cool cool.
    how do.

  3. Hello Mr Hyper :)

  4. Welcome Dave :)

  5. Hi Lee and welcome to the forum :) I've got the 796HM and I wouldn't part with it for love nor money ;).
You are welcome to come to the Ducati Forum BBQ this Sat 5th Sept in Derby, front page or Rideouts and Events thread will give more details :upyeah:

  6. I think the 821 would be more than enough to handle today's roads and arsehole drivers, not to mention the fuzz. The litre bikes may have the edge in a straight line, but when it comes to twisties, the Hyper is the way to go! My fella couldn't keep up with me on his R1 around the roads of Aberystwyth,he'd start to catch me on a straight only to lose me on the next bend :upyeah:Good luck and I hope you find the bike you really want :)

  7. I've not had any trouble keeping up with most things including new blades, sprint 1050's, K1200s's, Ninjas etc to name a few on a 600..

The Hyper will likely handle to road better anyway. I wouldn't worry.

  8. Hello and welcome into the mad house again!

Get it you know you want too ;)

I have trouble keeping up with the locals on here

    Red is the best :Angelic::Brb:

  9. Thanks everyone! Looks like I will be booking a test ride shortly!

One final thing.....on my Hypermotard Evo SP (with single sided
Termi and ECU) it was terrible in traffic and I understand it would of needed a full rev range remap to sort this if I wanted too? How is the 821 in traffic, still on/off jerky or has this been smoothed out?

Unfortunately, this is why I went for the CB1000R as its soooo smooth in traffic being a 4 cylinder......

  10. Thanks! :upyeah:

  11. Nothing wrong with a bit of bumpy ;)

  12. Mine's got a pair of Termis and a racing ECU,which was supplied with them. Took mine to Geoff @ Hilltop Motorcycles near Mallory Park, flashed my ECU and dyno'd it,it now pumps out 92 bhp,and is smoother at lower speeds.....but don't forget about a Ducati's characteristics,I jumped on mine after riding a Bandit 12 and a Hornet 9 for years, and it was a bit of a wake-up call, especially never owning a twin before, but I love it for all its little quirks :upyeah:

  14. Hello and welcome

  15. I bought my (standard) Hyper 821 in June after 12 years on the 748R it's been a revaluation. It's such a fun bike great handling and manovrability stops and goes really well. It's comfortable as well I would recommend the racing seat as the standard one puts you in one position.

    Thanks Gary.

Weirdly I'm actually in talks with the chap I sold my most recent Hypermotard Evo SP to about possibly buying it back! :)
