Anyone Used Longer Pegs...

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by Exige, Oct 7, 2015.

  1. and if so any recommendations.

Do the full Termi or Acro systems get rid of the issue for the RH heat shield being in the way of your heel?

  2. I've got carbon Termis, a Rizoma heat shield and Gilles rearsets and my right heel rubs against the heat shield. I have to consciously position my foot slightly further out on the peg if I don't want my heel to rub.

On my Monster 1100 and 1100evo I used Oberon pegs. Because of their design your foot is positioned about 1cm further out than the stock pegs. This helped with heel clearance.

What is it about Ducati and their bikes having obstructions where your heels go? Do all their test riders have size 3 feet so nobody notices a problem before the bike goes on sale?

  3. My right heel runs against my shiny carbon heat shield all the time :( I've just resigned myself to living with it and polishing it from time to time.

That was with standard rear sets and Gilles. No difference at all.

  4. Italians. They have shorter appendages than Anglo Saxons.
I've long since stopped noticing my heel against the heats shield. Maybe the engine balancing helps because the vibes I was getting through the shield have all but disappeared now and I don't seem to be marking the paint.
I just want some grippier pegs. Not fussed about full rear sets just something that won't slip. Thinking of these: Rider Adjustable Folding Footrest Kit - Pair - Black | Ducati Streetfighter / S (2010)

  5. Spotted them, good quality stuff - I have Giles rearsets on my 998 - wonder if these are any longer. My foot sits naturally on the ball of the RH peg so slips off, with these maybe the grip would do the job.

  6. I thought they looked the best design I'd seen for grip. The ball looks particularly grippy. You could probably train yourself to rest purely on the ball. OE pegs are evil in the wet or if you've got forecourt diesel on your boot. My Alpine stars aren't too bad but I've got a pair of short TCX summer boots and they gradually slide down till I'm on my instep so those pegs have to go.

  7. Gimlet, if you want grippier pegs then the Oberons have better grip then the Ducati ones, but Rizoma ones are even better.

  8. I've got Rizoma rear sets on my SF and the pegs are still not log enough to prevent my ankle hitting the exhaust guard.

As an aside, the twisted right foot position makes my ankle ache after an hour. Anyone else get that? (sorry for the topic hijack).

  9. I took all the washers out from under the exhaust sheild on mine. And also put two 10mm spacers behind the rear sets. Foot is straight now. Sorted.
