1200 DVT Front Mudguard

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Xtourer1200, Oct 7, 2015.

  1. Hi all,
Hopefully picking up my new to me standard DVT next week, i noticed the front mudgard is very short at the rear and wondered if anyone has fitted and extender to stop all the crap going over the engine?
Pics would be good if there is a part available. This will be my first Duke and really looking forward to it.
    Cheers Justin

  2. If the front mudguard is the same as the 2013 I had, don't bother with a fender extender as the weight of it caused the rear part of the mudguard to drop onto the tyre (very worrying) so in the end I fitted a carbon fiber one from Ilmberger, almost as long at the rear as the OE with extender.

  3. I fitted a Pyramid Plastic Fender Extender on the longer of the supplied front mudguard rear parts. No problems with it rubbing against the front tyre, which was a problem on my 2010 bike.

I've just fitted an Evotech head guard and I've notice a couple of marks on the fender extender so it looks it might be fouling under heavy breaking which is something I need to check. There were no problems with just the Evotech radiator guard.

You can just make out the line between the fender extender and the standard part in the photo below.

  4. Thanks for the replys, Steve where did you get the longer front mudguard from or did your bike come with it as the one I am buying looks shorter at the back.
    Cheers justin

  5. The bike was supplied with two rear parts to the front mudguard, the very short one was fitted as standard, the other longer one was given to me along with all the other stuff (manuals, accessory and clothing books).

Item 4 is listed as a Hose Guide [85012121A] and item 8 is listed as Extension, Front Fender [56410802A], taken from the Spare Parts Catalogue (available online at Ducati)

Previous years models came with two lengths of rear mudguard (hugger) but now there is only one length for the 2015 model.

  6. Steve,
Thanks for your help, i will ask the current owner if he has the parts in question before i buy it. Hopefully all will be in order as he has had it from new.

  7. I've got the one from the Sport package which is shorter than the standard and it works fine, I was just driving out in the rain today and didn't notice a drop.

  8. I've just ordered the Pyramid plastics fender extender to fit on my DVT. Thanks for the picture as it shows that extra length of front mudguard should by effective in keeping the muck off the front of the engine.

  9. Steve, Any update on whether it is the mudguard fouling against the head guard?

  10. Fenda extenda fitted and looking good. SteveB123, did you fit the little 4mm fasteners or is it held on by the double sided tape?

  11. I used the supplied tape and plastic rivets. No problems so far after 5k miles although I've noticed a few marks on the fender extender now I've fitted an Evotech Head Guard.

  12. I haven't got an evotech guard so no possible issues with that, but I did secure the extenda with the double sided tape and fittings. Makes a bigger difference than I expected on keeping rubbish off the cyclinder head. Good result for a cheap add on. Must be a first for a Ducati!

  13. I didn't get the mudguard extender when I picked up my new DVT. I queried it with one of the sales guys (who wasn't a Ducati chap) who said it was an option and didnt come as standard.

When I went back in for my first service I queried it again with the service team who said its not listed as an accessory/option but should come standard with the touring model (which I have) so they found one and fitted it for free for me during the service.

    Happy days.

Have got my Evotech radiator and oil cooler protectors on order.

By the way, anyone else find it frustrating that bike manufacturers never seem to make provision for helmet locks any more?!!!

  15. You can get two full face helmets in the top box and a third one in the left pannier. What more do you want?

  16. Given the price of my lid there is no way I'd want it strapped to the side of my bike!

  17. Didn't get the chain tension guide, going to have to call them and try and get it!!

  18. Don't have a top box!
Don't normally ride with the panniers fitted, but it's a valid point
