  2. A good quality fully synthetic 10w40 or 10w50. Make is immaterial although I use Motul 7100 which is about £45 for 4 litres. As an alternative Motul 5100 is also good and about £10 cheaper. You will get a variety of responses so you will still be confused, good luck. Andy

  3. I use Shell Ultra 4T in my bikes as it's what the dealer sticks in. 4 litres is about £25iirc. A lot swear by Motul 300V.

  4. I just did the run in service on my 848 Evo and it used exactly 3.7L (including filter) to take it up to the maximum level.

Any good fully synthetic 10W40 will suffice but like @Robarano - I use Shell Advance Ultra 4T.

  6. I use Motul, but Shell is what Ducati recommend.

As mentioned you pays your money, it's all down to preference but there will a number who do prefer Motul.

  7. I went with Castrol Power 1 Racing 10 40 last time around from a UK supplier. A lot of the eBay stuff seems to be imported from who knows where.

  8. Some eBay oils are old stock and can be beyond the "best before date" so take care when buying.

Opie oils http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ and 2 wheels warehouse http://2wheelswarehouse.co.uk/ are good people to buy oil from.

Both have a presence on eBay and can often offer good deals on oil.

  9. Rock oil 15/50 in mine it's a bit thicker so I let the bike warm up a bit longer before giving it the beans.

  10. Thanks for all your advice guys I bit the bullet and bought some Castrol power 1 racing from my local bike shop, only a small business so probably paid over the odds but better to support them than some faceless person off of eBay. All I need to do now is get off my Arse and do it thanks again

  11. Woah, hang on a minute there @Mutley172 .

  16. And when you have used it for a year and had no problems then you can go onto oil threads and tell everyone that it is the best because you have had no problems! :)
Seriously the make of oil makes no difference as long as it meets the specifications and those are written on the side of the can. Avoid diesel oil because you have a petrol engine and avoid race oil because you are not racing your bike and do not change the oil after every race.

  17. They are all fine, the best oil is one that is changed often :) An expensive oil left in for thousands of miles is rubbish compared to a cheap(er) oil that's changed after a thousand miles or couple of trackdays. Dont worry too much about the brand, just try and change it more often.

  18. Plus one but iirc, the motul 5100 is not actually fully synth, so make sure you get the 7100.
The main thing is to get fully synth, the make doesn't matter as much.
