  1. The IOM ferries might have plenty of space next week then :)

  3. For those of you who believe the BBC news pictures and think that it applies to the whole of France, I made a short video for you. We popped to Montignac in the Dordogne and while the wife was in the supermarket I filmed the petrol station for 7 minutes. All the pumps are open and all fuel is available. I have uploaded the video at 3 times to speed to show you the huge queues.

  5. That's what happens when you get a video camera that does time lapse! I love my toys.

  6. Nice videos on your y/t channel.

  7. I've just come back from a trip through france. Down to St Quentin, over to south of Dole, down into the alps to Les ARCS where it snowed. Back up to Troyes the Arras. Fuel problems only know last couple of days with lots of places having none. Some of the supermarkets are not letting anyone fill cans. Funnily the Super U in Bourg St maurice had two tankers dropping fuel off on Wednesday. At one station near arras I waited 45 mins in the queue but at least they had petrol

  8. Filled up in La Rochelle no problem. 700 mile range means no worries this side. Fuel stations are shut on A16 probably due to panic buying.

I'm eagerly awaiting riots at Calais... lol

  9. It was all fine...

  10. Last couple of posts are giving me a slightly warmer feeling as I head down to Provence.

  11. Its ok Drinky, Bob T's garage has fuel.... so you'll be fine ;)

  12. You've always got the bikes in the back ;)

  13. Absolutely no problems at all from Calais to Dijon infact the roads are almost deserted,

  14. I guess they must all be out of fuel then......you in a car or on a bike?

  15. Fuel flowing freely at the moment in Gers (32) after some shortages caused
    by panic buying mania!

Hey Ian - give me a shout if you're anywhere close to Tarbes and I'll try and join you. Otherwise have a great trip.

  16. Been in France 3 days now and no problems at all, filling up 3 times a day and everyone had fuel, only one garage had run out of 98 so had to put in 95E, press do talk utter bollacks at times

  17. Ahh the French - theyre never happy unless theyre burning tyres or livestock...y'gotta lovem...

Were owned by a French company - they bought us about 8 years ago....the first meeting the directors had, 2 points were made...

    1. Why isn't there any wine on the boardroom table..
    2. Your paying your workforce too much...to which one of our directors said "how do you come to that conclusion....?" - the reply was "no one is on strike...!"

And since then all my pay rises have been below inflation....I stay because I like what I do, where I work and the people that I work with, in fact this year we've not had a payrise yet...strange that..

  18. Number 1's a fair point imo.

  19. According to reports from France, only 8%of the workforce now belong to a Union, but invariably it is those who are on strike and trying to bully the Government into running the country their way.
Going on strike is not a "basic human right",any more than being offered a job is a basic human right: however you are ,as an individual human being, able to withdraw your offer to labour.
If you have a large bunch of bully boy mates, you go on strike to bully your employer into doing what you want them to do.(FBU/BMA/NUM etc).
Those not in powerful Unions withdraw their labour by heading for the door...

  20. You only really ever get strike issues in the same places. Paris (anarchists) Calais, Le Harve, air traffic control (lazy b'tards).
