Hi all. Does anyone on here have these rear sets with a HM quick shifter fitted? If so have you any pictures and rod length measurements. I'm struggling to get my gear lever low enough to stop it fouling the lever rod. It's too high and I just can't get it to shift properly. It's driving me mad. Cheers in advance.
are you happy that gear arm is fitted in optimum position, i.e. has someone removed and refitted at a different angle and then adjusted arm length to compensate? a picture from side-view might help.
It's definitely too low. But if I go any lower it interferes with rod when you press down on lever. I'll put a pic up as soon as I can to help. Thanks
Obvious thing to do is move the QS unit towards the gearbox and then it won't interfere with the shift pedal. Just swap the rod extension round.
Thanks for that. I'll get a photo of mine when I can. The rod attached to my lever goes from below it. Will be more obvious when you see it. Thanks for photo though.
@RickyX @Rawdon Hopefully you can see slight dent on silver shift rod extension. If I put lever lower it interferes!! Suggestions?
@Jase1 It looks like you need to remake the silver shift rod. Since it has the dog leg running under the arc of travel of the gear lever, the lever is always going to contact it when pressed down. The dog leg needs to be closer to the pivot of the lever (right side of picture) so that it moves the rod to the inboard side and away from the arc of movement of the lever.
It's getting a bit much to have a shifter. It was working fine, just the lever is too high! As you bring your foot up its at the top of your movement before pressing on to lever so little force is applied. Then to change down, you have to lift your foot to press down, I'm sure you understand what I mean. I was thinking of moving pegs forward as there are 4 slots and this should pivot lever down. That's tomorrow nights job. It's road pattern. Can't do race as it fouls slave cylinder. You have to attach a lever direct to shaft to do race pattern.
If the lever pivots down, it looks like it will hit the silver rod sooner in the travel. Looks like a slightly agricultural design to me.
The thing I can't get my head round is, before the shifter, it was in the right position. All I've done is add the shifter and adjusted the length of the rod. I'm gonna take it all apart tomorrow and go back to standard and measure up again. I've missed something. Cheers again.
Are you using the supplied spacers between where the triangular rear set fixes to the frame. The spacers are approx 10mm thick btw. Is it not possible to rotate the 'silver rod' to orientate in a different position from where it is now? Just looked closer at your photo and can now see the rear of the rod appears to be welded to the pivot carrier, which of course. Sets the rod in only one possible position!
Yes spacers are present. I'm not sure they're 10mm but definitely there as before. Will take it all apart this afternoon and look at angles and try and get lever low enough and go from there.
