1200 R Evo -tech Tail Tidy Fitted

Discussion in 'Monster' started by Ian Cottier, Jul 31, 2016.

  1. Thought I'd post a few pics of the EVO Tech tail tidy. Had to wait a long time but wasn't overly fond of the R&G unit that came out and no sign of Ducati doing one.

I ended up adapting the number plate holder as
    a) the one in the kit only had 2 top bolt holes
    b) the holes in my current plate wouldn't fit (would need new plate + new holes).

In doing this, I actually had to 'nibble' a bit out of the top of the plate in the centre to allow the rear light to fit fully, but no big deal.

FYI - the top 2 bolt holes of the Ducati original match the new EVO Tech mounting plate, so I just got some slightly longer bolts.

    Hope this makes sense

  2. image.jpeg That's nice mate I quite like the r@g one

  3. Did you have to cut any wires?

  4. No wires cut. You use existing wires and number plate light + original indicators. They even give you a few cable ties to make things neat.

Check out the installation instructions and you can see - nice and easy

  5. Thanks. The Evotech looks good. Pricey though. I think I'd also prefer one that is much less bulky still, even if that means the original indicators won't fit.

That R&G model doesn't look like the one on the website. Are there multiple versions?

  6. I can add from my own experience that the Evotech stuff is really first rate. I've fitted the tail tidy on my S and it's really lovely. Seemed expensive until I got it, and then you can see where the money goes - all really high quality parts. Totally worth it.

  7. Oh I agree. I've bought several radiator guards and exhaust hangers from Evotech (including for the 1200R). But even so, £150 is a lot for a tail tidy.

  8. Looks fantastic fitting mine tomorrow.

  9. Tail Tidy now all done and looks much better also bought a slightly smaller number plate. Really happy took it out yesterday for a blast and it is the best bike ever. However thinking about putting the DB killers in the Termis as just so loud ..... Forget that just read that back to myself and I sound like a massive pussy

  10. My Termi's getting fitted on Sat - there is Character and then there is just plain Loud. I prefer Character.....

  11. They sound amazing and some how the bike also seems smother. The DB Killers look quite easy to pop in, just One screw on each one. Mite be a little fiddly with the pipe on. But should be ok. Have you done anything else to yours ???

  12. The Evo-Tech tail tidy obviously. Removed the OEM mirrors and replaced with CRG Arrow on bar end adaptors. Couple of CNC covers on front wheel spindle. Ducati carbon fibre hugger & chain cover going on this weekend with Termi's.
Looking at the Evo-Tech exhaust hanger (told it looks great) but out of stock currently

  13. Thinking of getting a 1200s but don't like that numberplate holder over the rear wheel. Will be fitting a tail tidy and moving number plate up I think.

  14. I've fitted an Evo Tech tail tidy to my S - looks loads better, and really superb quality kit.

  15. Another happy Evotech tail tidy person here - fitted mine at the weekend and very impressed with quality of construction and how it looks.

  16. Looks like Evotech is the way to go.

  17. As a mechanical design engineer I have to say that the fit and finish and materials are first-rate. Expensive but worth it.

  18. Anything to get rid of that horrible monstrossity round the rear wheel.

  19. Looks good. On my 1200s Stripe I removed the extension section and ended up with it like this. [IMG]
