Insuring A Panigale???

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by carson, Oct 20, 2016.

  1. Wicked Quotes are the same people as Ducati Insurance............Both at the same address in Potters Bar and owned by Sky Insurance.

  2. I was insured with AXA through Bennetts and when I called today they said that they wouldn't cover me. I've looked at the policy that Bemoto have sent through and it's with AXA? So how does that work, is it the broker being greedy?

  3. I think they all piss in the same damn pot

  4. I've just insured my 959 with Bennetts got £287 fully comp with breakdown, accident and legal etc
They were a lot dearer on comparison sites so I tried on their website direct and was a lot cheaper, maybe worth a go

  5. The point I was trying to make is ring them, the online quotes are way out.

  6. I'm happy enough with the deal that Bemoto have given me now, plus they were nice to deal with on the phone.

  7. Or the tory party. :boy::gun:

  8. This might sound nuts but I only got third party for my 899 cause my last two bikes were written off and stolen so no one will insure me despite the theft not being my fault and having 7 years no claims on my car.

  9. It does sound nuts. Ive got a theft and a write off over the last 3 years and I'm paying £380 full comp.

Shop around and don't use comparison sites. Pick up the phone and you can usually get something done at a much better price too. I always remove pillion insurance as that saves about 5-10% usually.

  10. Really? I always end up quoted more when I speak to a human.

  11. I think I learned yesterday that picking up the phone is definitely the best way forward. Yes it's a pain but I ended up saving a fortune.

  12. What's your beef with MCE?

  13. My plan is to manage for a year and the quotes should be totally different with a year's no claims. Risky, but part of the way I could afford it in the first place. If I bin it then I just have to suck it up.

  14. Need to add more sugar perhaps?

It's a fine line between painting the best picture of your impenetrable fortress of a garage without breaching insurance policies.

For example, the quality of your locks or ground anchors can never be verified if it's stolen.

Failing that, use a family address that's in a cheaper location. I used to register to vote at my mums on the south coast when I was younger even though I lived in South London. Saved at least 30% for years and I never had any issues with a claim. Loads of people have two home addresses, it's not something that's unusual.

Gotta beat the system if you're getting fleeced with crazy prices. I don't mind paying £380 so I don't bother with all the above anymore, but when it was either £800 or £500 it was worthwhile.

  15. I'm not going to even start on about MCE because I can feel my blood starting to boil. I was with them for 2 years purely because they were the only ones that would insure my 1199 sensibly, albeit £500. They're a bunch of chimps. Administration is a joke. Took about 5 phone calls and many hours on hold listening to Big Eds bollocks just to get my documents emailed. Then they were wrong so more phone calls more of Ed deafening me, then they got my no claims wrong when I eventually found a way of escaping them to Ducati insurance. Just glad I didn't have to claim off them, I probably would have thrown myself off a cliff first. Anyway I said I wasn't going to get started on MCE. I'm going to punch Big Ed next time I see him at a race!

  16. I wrote off my 1098 when with mce, they were great , paid out a value of about a hundred below showroom value minus my excess and all pretty quick. I agree it's a bollox listening to that cunt big edd.

  17. You could try Principal Insurance. They gave me a very good deal for my Multi earlier this year.

  18. mce work like second hand car sharks.

They get the lowest quotes by setting the excess at 3 times everyone else. If you cancel, they divide themselves into two parts. Mce the insurer's and mce the underwriters, both take a slice. If you cancel after (I'm trying to remember if it's 14 days or 30) it stops being pro rata and comes down to what's left after they have put charge on charge. Out of £167 after 6 weeks I cancelled as the bike was sold, I also got back £30

The breakdown recovery only allows 3 uses for the whole of the policy and the number you call is not cheap rate.

Worth also mentioning that mce underwriters head office is listed as Gibraltar for tax reasons.

I would rather stick razor blades up my japs than use them again.

  19. My R1 is currently insured with Principle and my Harley was last year. They were great when they wanted my business last year, but when it came to renewal they were horrendous.
I was insured with them for my R6 and then transferred that on the Harley. The R6 was actually more expensive than the Harley to insure.
I called up to get a quote and they said £130 fully comp for the Harley. I thought that was a bit steep and done the usual compare the whatever sites and found Bennetts doing it for £109.
Decided that I'd give Principal another chance to get close and save any hassle of paperwork, so I phoned them back 2 days later when they opened again, only to tell me that the quote given 2 days previously had expired and it was now £167. f**k that I said, phone down.
I went back on the Meerkat.com and found Bennets again at £109. Result buy it, job's a goodin...eh nope no it wasn't.
I calls Principal again for proof of my 4 years NCB only for them to say that they used it on my R1, even though I asked the dopey b1tch on the phone when I was getting the renewal quote how many I had only for her to confirm that I've got 4 years. Not only that, the dude also said that there was an outstanding balance of £80 odd quid on my account, which is news to me considering that I pay my insurance outright every year.
They refused to release my NCB until the £80 was paid. I ended up just phoning back a few days later and got someone else who emailed it to me there and then.

I called them last week when I was looking for quotes for the Panigale and they said they'd beat the £650 quoted by MCE easily but they just needed to confirm a few details and they would call me back after lunch. I'm still waiting on the phone call.

Bemoto have already agreed to beat the price that Principal charged me last year when my renewal is up in March and to be honest Bemoto were much better to deal with than any other company I've called.
