1200 Pikes Peak Dead Multi...

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Timg, Nov 26, 2016.

  1. See www.exact-start.com for technical info, basically the Ducati cables are about the worst you could manufacture (materials and method) and create resistance which takes the oomf out of your starter circuit. Ours are the best that can be manufactured as you will see from the info on the our web site.
See a review from a 1200MTS owner on the link (and a few more on different bikes too). New bikes do vary (not sure why - maybe the cables have had moisture ingress prematurely from storage) but even if starting well it is a good preventative mod.
There is a link on the MTS review to before and after videos for you to compare.

  2. Yeah but when are you going to do the multistrada dvt & dvt-enduro versions?

  3. After Pete's delay due to health reasons a 2nd DVT kit has gone out for fitment but waiting for the guy to fit still for checking and instruction pictures. Pete also mentioned the warranty question regarding fitment, but legally this shouldn't be an issue - needs pointing out though and worth checking with your dealer. I do however have a main Ducati dealer as a fitment centre now :)

  4. The videos were from my 2011 bike. I've got to say that there was a significant improvement in the turnover from cold. Take a look at the videos and the write up. Well worth the money.

  5. My 999 never did actually fail to start but every time I pressed the button I was nervous about it and worried that this might be the time when it did fail. Worrying enough at home but a real concern when out and about. A cable kit ended all that and the bike was transformed from a reluctant starter to an eager starter.
My only regret is that these kits weren't available when I had an SS...

  6. It is true that I was a bit concerned about fitting different wiring to a bike still within warranty. If there was a subsequent electrical problem which DUK declined to cover under warranty (on the grounds that non-standard wiring had been fitted without their knowledge, consent, or approval), it could be a bit difficult to argue the point. Not sure why you think that "legally this shouldn't be an issue" @Exige - it looks rather like a legal issue to me.

Once my DVT is out of warranty, in six months' time, I look forward to fitting the Exact Start cables. The sets I have fitted to older bikes are, of course, superb.

  7. Same as fitting any after market product while under warranty - it has to be proved the cause of an issue and improve quality cables cannot cause any detriment. Agree it could end up being a sticky issue though until resolved if it did arise, which is why I mentioned it following your previous advice :upyeah:

  8. Received the cables for my pre DVT bike last week from Exige

Very speedy turn around service, well packed and presented with all the little bits n bobs that make the fitting a pleasure

The cables are of a much better quality to the original Ducati rubbish

Fitted to the bike at the weekend, a fair bit of dismantling to do a good and proper fit, but if you take your time, its a worthy job well done

Not been for a ride out yet, but the bike is differently a much more urgent starter, so a very worthy upgrade in my book

    Well done Exige!

  9. @Boomer - how long did it take to fit them, and do you have any tips? Thanks.

  10. Hi tobers

I took my time, cleaning as I went so I would say a good afternoon to be fair

I managed to do it without taking the tank off, but its tricky trying to get the last screw and cable cover off, but it can be done if your careful and have some determination
