British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. That couldn't be any nearer to my feelings on the subject if I recorded it myself.

    Hang on, maybe I'm BVG?

Top rant and bang on the money

  3. I read that yesterday, it was such a non story it wasn't worth commenting on. But trust you to post the headline and try to portray it as sensationalist.

The truth was that some Australian comapnies would like to bring some staff with them when setting up business. That's all.

I work for a Japanese company that had a lot of Japanese employees when initially setting up the plant. Now we have only a handful and receive only short term visits from Japanese staff.

    From the article -

"For example, an Australian company that invests in the UK might want to bring some of its executives to the UK.

"That can be done with what are called tier 2 visas, but maybe that could be made a little bit easier.

"I suspect they would be the only sort of changes you'd be looking at."

    Oh Dear.....:Hilarious:

  4. So you see immigration which is work visa related , and therefore entirely controllable, as the same as the EU's free movement rule which we have zero control over the quantity of people arriving in the UK whether they have a job or not?

    It's not really comparable

  5. Oh Dear what? India did the same, nothing wrong with a country you want to deal with saying some of things they may want. You sure you've done business before and negotiations?

Many of the countries we are talking to are commonwealth countries that the EU insisted we dump otherwise we couldn't join the E.U. We stupidly feel for that but in many ways now we are trying to rebuild bridges.

The good thing on this however is that we will no longer have a two teir immigration system that saw Europeans be treated like royalty with automatic rights and another side treated like they need a cia investigation.

No there will be the same system where all are treated equally, I don't see that as a step backward, far from it.

  6. They want a freer trade and immigration policy. Something apparently millions voted against. Can't have it both ways.

Anyway Australia has such a small population AND its 9000 miles away. Can't see us selling them a great deal more than we already do.The biggest barrier there is distance, time and cost of movement of goods.

  8. Australia isn't asking for freer immigration, or free passports as the "price" of a trade agreement. They want Tier 2 visas for business people which will work both ways. At the moment, high value, small volume migration from countries such as Australia is effectively discriminated against for political reasons in favour of low skilled mass-migration from the EU. It is precisely to reverse this nonsensical policy and free ourselves to apply some precision and pragmatic control to immigration that we are leaving the EU.

  9. This old myth. :Meh:

  10. Nope most who wanted brexit wanted an equally based immigration system based on one standard for all countries but more importantly, a controlled immigration system based on skills shortage and the countries need.

The key was controlled migration and controlled by our own government.

  11. Top man.
    Nice filtering and undertaking too..

  12. That is just plain silly. Using your analogy then millions didn't know what they voting for when they voted to stay in that it didn't list everything staying meant.

The vote was simple, more of the same or offski and do everything on our own and start a new

This continual whinge bagaram that the leavers didn't even know , how do you know? speculation of idiots

  13. I am surprised he is still alive, he constantly gambles and sooner or later he will lose. Maybe that is how it is done south of Kendal but sooner or later ...

  14. I started filtering on my "Commute on the scoot" a lot more once I started watching the Baron's videos. Just keep your wits about you, plenty of eye contact and only when the traffic around you is at a slow pace. If you filter when traffic is at speed, you are asking for a visit to A&E.

  15. I would add that it is the relative speed that is the issue and he seems to travel at relatively high speeds past slow moving / stationary traffic and that is a recipe for disaster IMHO. Sooner or later a door will open, a gap will close, a car will switch lanes, a car will turn into / out of a junction, a pedestrian will step out ...

  16. So, what is David Cameron trying to say?

Did he suggest if we voted leave we'd be out of the single market? I'm not sure, let me just watch it again.....

  17. Yeah, I agree with that, he does do it a bit faster than I do. :Dead: The mirrors om my vespa are just the right height to hit Ford Transit mirrors too, which slows my progress. :Nailbiting:

  18. Yeah, it is difficult to pick up on. I had to watch it a few times to pick up the subtle turns of phrase. :Wideyed:

  19. Ok, I'm starting to pick up the underlying tone now.

So, when I voted leave, that was definitely to leave the single market?

Two ticks, let me just watch it one more time.....
