Full Throttle Drop Protection

  1. hey all,

I am thrilled to be having an FT delivered on Monday and already started down the road of extras to buy/fit on its arrival ....
I am rearly split on the evotech bobbins and the hepco crash bars.... and its necessity....
How many have actually thought it worthwhile and fitted one or the other or similar, I'm leaning towards the crash bars for looks as I sometimes think bobbins just stick out too far (I know that's for the reason they hit first) or do most just go without ?

    any thoughts appreciated

    cheers

  2. Never bothered. That's why I have insurance.

  3. Ok I get the insurance side BUT surely having them on there stops a fairly big amount of damage through accidents that you probably wouldn't bother claiming on insurance for etc etc.....
im getting back to riding after 3years away and am probably being more cautious than needs be, but my last bike a HEAVY Gsx1400 that when I lost my footing trying to get it on the centre stand decided to flip me across the garage lol the crash bobbins did actually stop probably a fair bit of damage that occasion....
I suppose there's no right decision either way lol

    Cheers

  4. I guess for me it's a toss up over the possibility of cosmetic damage in circumstances as you describe against not particularly liking the look of fitted crash bobbins. The ones on the hubs are probably okay, but I don't really like the much bigger ones that fit to the frame.

I've come close to dropping my Hypermotard once or twice or thrice as even at 6'1" it can be a bit awkward due to its height, but it's not made me buy them yet.

Also remember bad experiences grounding engine crash bars on my Z250 last century, bloody things almost caused accidents rather than protecting against them, though it would be an impressive feat to ground a crash bobbin!

  5. What's an FT?

  6. Could be a Full Throttle model from the Scrambler range, or the Financial Times. :)

  9. Hey its your bike...if you are ok with how they look and if they give you any piece of mind at all, then why not! Personally i dont have any but its your money...do whatever makes ya happy :upyeah:

  10. The other option is just to get engine covers (and possibly tank corner covers?) as those are the parts that get worn through and really do damage. I can never make my mind up but I've gone this way with the Panigale R and the R6 just has the small race bullet sliders which are hardly noticeable.
