899 Rear Shock Comparability

  1. Does anyone know if the 1299 rear shock will fit the 899?

  2. Yes it will fit,but only off the 11/1299 base and the r mk2 as all others are electronic.

  3. Thanks, it's a base model too. Linkage and fittings all the same? Can I just swap out?

  4. Yes mate all will swap over no problem,just make sure the top shock bolt is correctly torqued up and if it is off a early 1199 i would buy a new bolt or use the one off your 899.

    How did that happen? Wasnit the standard chain?

  7. Bloody hell,was it the original chain,i have a brand new 899 rear shock £40 if is of any use to you.

  8. No, it was a DID gold rascal. Not sure if the master pin failed or not but you're right. Lucky as hell it didn't wrap around the wheel or whip into my leg.

    I'll definitely take that shock off you. It works good enough for me without encouraging me to spend ££s on an ohlins or nitron one. PM me with your PayPal email address

  9. Did you retrieve the chain to have a look at it? That's pretty scary stuff
