1098 Brake Lines

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by RickyX, Feb 23, 2017.

  1. I bought some HEL race lines for my 1098 just before Christmas (50% off, like many people).

One end of each line has a straight banjo fitting and the other has one with a slight angle.

Question: which end goes at the master cylinder and which at the caliper?

    Cheers,
    R

  2. Pretty sure the angle end is master cylinder and straight at the caliper on 1098 (ahem).

  3. Pretty sure or 100% sure? They may be different depending on the bike.

  4. It depends what angle, i.e. what direction. I bought some race lines too, I have angles at both ends

  5. I've got Venhill's fitted. The banjos at the calipers have a slight bend but the banjos at the master cylinder have different bends, one sharper than the other where they sit on top of each other. My initial guess is the the angled banjos are at the master cylinder but I could be (as I have been far too often before) wrong :Bag:. Andy

  6. @duc996bp : were they for a 1098 or 996?

  7. @Android853sp looks like different makes have different angles.
Looks like I will need to do a dry fit to see which arrangement best suits which end.

  8. Mine has Hel line fitted - straight on the calliper / angled on the res :upyeah:

  9. Will post pictures after calling Europe :)

  14. What he said....

  15. Are the std hoses at an angle on the caliper end? If yes then you would expect the race version too

  16. Here you go - straight are correct on the calliper - you need angled on the master cylinder:

Bit of a jigsaw to get it all aligned!
