999 5.5 V 6 Inch Wheels

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by yellowducmaniac, Mar 11, 2017.

  1. I've Just splashed out on a pair of Dymag carbon fibre wheels for my 999S,the front is 3.5 inch wide and the rear is 6 inch....the front is the same as my standard wheel but the rear is bigger than standard (5.5). ...will this pose any problems when fitting the rear with a 190 tyre?. .and what are the pros and cons of the two sizes?

  2. A 190/55 would be on the large side for a 5.5" wheel but ideal for a 6" wheel. Not sure what clearance you would have towards the front of the swing arm but I'm sure other 999 owners will have run a 190. Andy

  3. 190 was standard OEM equipment for the 999 so can't see it being an issue :)

  4. Iirc, length of chain can be an issue. If it's too long or stretched, the tyre can touch the inside end of the swingarm, it depends on the profile.
