748 Project - Immobiliser

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by Rynwilliams, Nov 20, 2016.

  1. Hi. recently bought a 2000 ducati 748 bip from a salvage auction stolen recovered. basically missing panels battery and ignition. got a new lock set but have discovered it has an immobiliser on it.
Anyone know how difficult these are to remove? was thinking about maybe just getting a new loom off ebay but might have a go at chasing the wiring back on existing loom first.

  2. Very easy. If an immobiliser wire is T-eed to an existing wire cut it off. If an existing wire is cut and connected to 2 wires of the immobiliser, cut the immobiliser wires out and re-join the the original.
T-eed wires are usually, permanent 12V, switched 12V (ign), ground and indicators. Cut wires are usually to fuel pump relay and starter solenoid. You may have to unwrap a fair bit of the loom, just rewrap it when you are done.

  3. Thanks Derek, just done it and as you said there were about 4 wires that were t-eed and two wires that were cut and I just re-joined, started straight up.
