got a 2000 748 and the fuel cap silver paint is flaking round the outside and the gold colour has some pitting on it. Anyone repainted/refurbished theirs?
I think they are anodised rather than painted. I have had parts anodised in the past, but any imperfections show through, so you'll have an issue with the pitting.
I did it last year. Good little thread and shows the paint I got from an art shop. I think I've heard smoothrite gold is close too. Be careful taking the cap apart. A few little springs and tiny ball bearings hidden away which go "PING"!
