  1. I've just bought these for both bikes: the Benelli spins up amazingly quickly now, not fitted one to the 999 yet.

Great price and they are so light... About 800g instead of 4ish kg?! Can't comment on quality / durability yet but it's got to be the cheapest way to shed a few of kilos...

  2. Crappy Ebay shop I bought the Shido of and had a delivery of last Friday not only didn't have them in stock, but their supplier didn't either and they didn't even have a date for the next delivery - wankers!

Ended up buying a Magneti Marelli after all, should be here Friday :)

  3. How do these compare to motobatt? I've used motobatt in a couple of bikes with great results, especially considering their price. Heavy as hell though..

  4. I fitted my Magneti Marelli today, and now have a big empty gap in the battery box! I'd not fired up the bike for a couple of weeks and it didn't turn over immediately. Lithium Ion batteries don't like the cold too much and it was about 5 degrees. Unlike lead acid though they get stronger as the current is drawn off - this effectively warms the cells up and they start producing more power.

A tip I got from the CTEK website was to just leave the ignition and lights on for a minute or so: the current draw warms the battery and sure enough it immediately kicked the engine over and all was well. This seems counter-intuitive as we're used to that horrible agony of trying to start an engine with barely enough juice and turning the lights off, trying to minimise the drain. You can actually see the voltage on the dash rise while you're waiting... :upyeah:

  7. Oh.

The above link is for Ebay from Italy but the shipped price is higher than you paid... :/

  8. Isn't the 1199SL fitted with a Skyrich battery as standard?

I fancy getting one of them, around £75 posted from Italy!

  9. Hey I'm thinking of going for one of these, have you got it fitted ? What are you going to use for charging ? I see there's a specific Optimate on eBay for £55

  10. I got the £55 Optimate - free delivery to my local Argos - fitted to my MV but nearly went flat when I left it not on charge with the alarm on for a few days and took two attempts with the Optimate to charge it - thought I'd goosed it! Seems you have to store them about 90% charged and can goose them if you drop too low - leaving mine on the Optimate all the time now!

  11. :upyeah: Nice one, thanks for the advice Exige

  12. Recently changed the battery on my 899 to a Shido lithium and was advised to charge with a normal car charger no more than 15 volts, battery fitted and no dramas,i have just purchased a Magneti Marelli lithium battery for my multi but it has no instructions,i also purchased a lithium charger,so for the first charge do i use the lithium trickle charger or a car charger ?
