1200 R Monster 1200r Insurance?

Discussion in 'Monster' started by flatairbag, Oct 3, 2016.

  1. Im struggling to find a company who actually list the Monster R as an insurable vehicle!!! ("Is it a S model sir... or a S4R model... no you numpti for the 8th time its the 1200 R model... so is that the Monster 1200 then sir... ugg, cue: hangup")

Had to laugh when bewiser didnt even know that it exists... good one shakey!

Any Insurance company recommendations would be helpful thanks.

  2. Ducati insurance is great. Get some quotes, then go to them and they'll beat it. I'd not ridden for 27years and they worked for me

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. I couldn't believe that Bennetts the so-called motorbike specialist insurer didn't list the monster 1200 R. I was staggered, I had to cancel my policy. In the end I went with BikeSure, part of the Adrian Flux group, cheaper than Ducati insurance by the way by about 50% !

  4. I had the same problem with my broker. One discovery I did make is that if you ask your broker to call through to their underwriters then you'll most likely get a price back.

I went Ducati insurance in the end regardless.

  5. I only had the problem because I got mine at Easter on pre-order from last year, so there were literally none in the country when I went to get insured. You'd have thought they'd have all sorted it out by now !!

As @nothingfaced states, ask them to go to the underwriters if it's a broker you want to be with

  6. Mine didn't have it listed either and due to value got referred to the underwriters who stung me for quite a bit extra. Stuck with them as I already had a policy that was only 2 months old, will be looking at Ducati Insurance next year.

  7. Thanks for the info all. Decided to swap out bikes on my current policy and finish the year to get another no-claims and will try Ducati Insurance again next year as both them and Bikesure were a bit high for me right now. Out of 4 companies I spoke to, only the ducati insurance had it listed as a current model, the rest had to manually find it.

  8. When i tried for insurance only Ducati Insurance and Bikesure had it listed and would touch it. As Ian says, you'dve thunk they've caught up by now.
    'Kin 'ell.
