  2. Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the all new Norton V4.

    We've been developing the V4 bike for a few years now, most publicly with our TT race team. This has taught us much about V4 engines, chassis geometry, electronics, suspension and all the other aspects that go to make a successful bike. The rigours of a TT race magnify many times over the importance of a reliable, good handling bike with plenty of power and control. Achieving a 7th position and 131mph lap this year with Davo Johnson our factory rider.

    We are now in a position to share a little more detail and information about the V4 1200cc engine bike.

    The all new V4 engine has been designed to be compact and offer performance, but with equally strong reliability and drivability. All engines are handbuilt here at the Norton factory and have the following technical specs;

    • 1200cc V4
    • 72 Degree vee
    • 82mm bore x 56.8 stroke
    • 200bhp @ 12,000 rpm
    • Titanium inlet valves
    • 13:1 compression ratio
    • 130Nm @ 10,000 rpm
    • 6 speed cassette gearbox
    • Slipper clutch
    • Polished engine covers
    • 8 fuel injectors with variable inlet tracts and full DBW system
    • Euro 4 compliance including oil thermostat, knock sensors, secondary air injection and EVAP

    The bike itself features a handmade tubular aluminium chassis with aluminium billet swingarm. All chassis fabrication/welding is in house here at the factory, we have just opened our new 10,000 sq ft manufacturing facility to accommodate the V4 welding and fabrication. The bike has many electronic aids and technical aspects with much of this proven at the TT over the last few years.

    A few of the V4 1200cc limited edition specifications are listed below;

    • Billet frame rear section made from aerospace spec material, frame tube specially developed and hand fabricated, polished finish.
    • Frame geometry and stiffness developed at TT, multi adjustable including headstock offset, headstock angle and swingarm pivot
    • Billet single sided swingarm, under-slung for better Centre of Gravity
    • 1430mm wheelbase
    • 23.9 degree head angle
    • 570mm swingarm length
    • 179kg dry weight

    • Multilayer under seat composite fuel tank, full carbon outer with Kevlar reinforcement and chemical inner coating. 18 litres capacity.

    • Flat up-shifter with auto down blip gear change

    As we said previously all the bikes will be hand built at our Donington Hall Factory, with deliveries anticipated to begin in the second half of 2017, the first public viewing of the bike will be at the Motorcycle Live show at the NEC this Nov. Two colour schemes are available, a bright chrome finish as the race bike, or a carbon finish. The limited edition bike has now had it's price fixed at £44k, the slightly lower spec non limited edition will be around £28k.

    We are now taking orders and allocating numbers from the 200 bike limited edition run. As a valued early enquirer you have been given preferential status in allocation, our current public and non UK enquirers list far outweighs bikes available and we have now stopped taking further enquiries for the limited edition bike, so you have a unique opportunity to acquire one of the limited edition bikes which will surely be a prominent point in the history of Norton and take the company into a new chapter.

    If you would like to purchase one of the V4 limited edition bikes please reply back to this email asap, we will try to allocate chosen numbers if you have a preference. But please understand it is a limited edition and not always possible to give everyone their choice, to this end please state your top preferred 3 numbers on your reply. If we are unable to place any of your chosen numbers we will allocate the nearest available. For clarity, please note we do not require a deposit at this point.

  17. Looks like a pretty epic bit of kit. The TT race bike looked and sounded awesome.

  18. They are alleging that this is a new V4 engine built by Norton at Donington, i.e. not an Aprilia. No doubt we shall find out in due course whether this is true.

  19. Will it have pushrod valves ?? ;-)
