748 Paint Flaking Off R/h Crankcase Cover

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by M200gh, Nov 1, 2015.

  1. Guys
I've got the normal issue of the paint flaking off the crankcase cover below the rear master cylinder reservior, can the casing be removed without taking the clutch out. (Looks like it might be possible?)
Once I have got it off , anyone know of the paint colour code and anyone who can powder coat it to the correct colour?
Any help /advice would be appreciated

    Cheers

  2. no, clutch unit needs to be removed.

  3. Thanks, have you done this job, do you know crankcase paint colour?

  4. What colour is it Silver or Green\Gold. Silver can be acquired in touch up or as spray for gun use from eBay. The Green\Gold which is described as Dark Bronze can be bought from RS Bike Paints and is for spraying, it is water based.

  6. Redditch Shotblasting Co Ltd should be able to help out with refinishing and coating.

You'll have to remove the clutch completely, make sure you have a good clutch holding tool as the centre nut is very very tight. Don't use the spring pillars, they will shear off. You'll also have to remove the oil sight glass too.
