  3. I'd never ride with earphones in. I like to hear my bike. And if I want music I can just hum to myself :)

  4. Ears are a very important defence mech, why block them and increase your chance of getting Hurt?

  7. I've only ever ridden once with earphones, couldn't change the song whilst riding though so heard "pretty vacant" 6 or 7 times on the bounce.
that was on my lil bros 50cc scooter and only done because I could. Don't think id ever do it on one of my bikes as like mentioned, hearing is a very important sense on a bike, not just to know what is going on around you but to know what your bike is up to.
    especially on a duke!

  8. I ve been looking at using them to listen to google maps on my phone while riding as I ve no sat nav has anyone tried them that way yet ?

  9. how different is this from a BT headset with speakers in the helmet?
    :)

  10. it's not! I think the point is, do you want to hear ya bike and what's going on around you or not.
I think ( though I've not tried it) sat nav could be ok but pumping music, much as I like the idea it aint for me..
bit strange though as I blast the tunes in the car and don't find it distracts me from what's going on around me.
I think having the noise right in ya ear is different to it coming from even a small distance away

  11. This is the solution I found, it's a phone mount (TechMount brand sourced from USA) that fits over the top yoke. I put Velcro on it and the iPhone case (I use a waterproof "LifeProof" case). This works well, but you need a fully charged iPhone for a long journey or a tank bag with a lithium charger to charge from.

The only downside I can see is the thing has sharpish edges (rounded metal but could still hurt in a spill) in the event of an accident. I take it off for track days.

PS: the last owner fitted the carbon clock surrounds, but I prefer the original foam surrounds. I have bought a replacement OE part, one of my jobs this winter.

  12. Although the story that started the thread was about a wire round the throat that wouldn't happen with wireless ear piece. But I wouldn't use them either. Even out jogging, yes really, I don't wear them apart from when on the canal footpath. Never on road.

  13. Mind you, those canal boats can sneak up in you and give you a nasty shock ,especially the horse drawn ones.

    Live dangerously eh? !

  14. I don't see the difference (apart from the garrotte thing). If you have music into your ears by wired or BT means, its still distracting. As is conversation while riding. IMO :)

  15. I never jog, even on a threadmill, can't be too careful.

  16. Always wear ear buds. Always have. Even when I'm not listening to music the noise cancelling part of them damps down the top end frequencies of whatever I'm riding. I've had some pretty noisy bikes over the years and my hearing is perfect, plus it helps me concentrate. Ironically I tried out my interphone last week on the hyper and while the intercom part will be handy if I'm riding with my mate (nothing worse than getting split up in heavy traffic at the TT) because the stock headphones are positioned slightly away from my ear not only do I get the full range of frequencies from the engine i get the headphone noise also so I'm not quite sure yet what to do about that as long term that "might" affect my hearing....not sure...although I'm currently toying (with the soldering iron) with replacing the stock headphone units with something bigger and better quality...

  17. I concentrate better with music in one ear. No idea why but it helps my flow and I can still hear everything easily too.

  19. I ride with music on most of the time using Soundear-Pro3's (specialist molded earplugs). I've answered calls with my sena20s but gave that up due to feeling I needed a jotting down pen&pad. Done the full shabang; intercom, phone, music & gps instructions intermixed. Just prefer music on the bike now-a-days, technology is great but at some-point it becomes all to over-whelming. Having the ability to see texts incoming on my dash is something I could now setup but it really isn't on a must priority. Many of my biker mates couldn't dream of listening or as stated been distracted by tunes, I'm the polar opposite. Keeps me calm & at ease with the strife on the roads or hustle & bustle of peoples problematic driving tenancies.
