Got one on my 1098 and like it, much firmer than standard and quite different but once you're used to it much better.
Yes, firmer but supports you better and somehow is more comfortable. I have ridden 350 miles in a day with no discomfort. If you were closer you'd be welcome to come and try it but seems like a long way to travel just to park your backside. The most noticeable difference when I first fitted it was that apart from being firmer it supported the top of my thighs more than the standard item, felt a little odd at first but I wouldn't change back now I'm used to it.

Sure it will be fine and will look good as well, got the tricolor flashes on the side for mine as it complimented the bike (picture in my album).
