Hello all, I think my full termi exhaust - the silencer - needs re-packing, I can hear that its a bit louder and can see a little carbon around the rivet ends. can anyone recommend a good place to send it to - I don't fancy doing it myself as it would involve drilling the rivets I think. Thanks, bugs
am going to try and open it up, and either weld it or try to shorten it as per others... if that fails, anyone know if the Termi downpipes will fit other makes of mufflers ? (as I bet the titatinum can will be quite expensive vs a mivv or something else). tks, bugs
Mine cracked just under 2 years. Getting a warranty replacement. I think some other poster reported the same problem.
good if covered, mine over 2 years so have to sort myself, also had downpipes crack -they were 650 to replace, termi's made of strong dark chocolate I believe !
If its not too long after 2 years, I suggest a stinging email directly to Ducati. Dealers unfortunately deal with Ducati UK which can be less accomodating. Use our cases for ammunication. We didn't pay for a premium full system made of titanium and stainless steel to fail on us. Even road salt shouldn't trouble it. Not within a few years. Mins cracked at the foot hanger. Definitely not a corrosion problem. Build quality not the best, especially compared to the Akras. Check out the noes for the Panigale.
Still, the condition is shocking. This affects their brand reputation. They have have a recent marketing campaign tying the histories of Terms and Ducati together. It's bad enough to dissuade u from getting another. At this rate, it's not just Terms that will be history, but Ducati too! No harm trying. Takes at most 30min of yr time. Worse is they say no. I've learnt to have a thicker skin when I get older.
The procedure for taking it apart is : 1. Drill the rivets out from both ends ( this is the most difficult bit, they are stainless and if the exhaust is over 2 years old it will take a long time and some hard drill bits - take it easy standard speed, push a little but not much - or take it to a local engineering company to do it for you) - the rivets go all the way through so don't worry about drilling all the way through. 2. To remove both ends - they are held with exhaust gasket and not welded - input end (the one that the bike is connected to) has the baffled welded inside. first start with removing the outer bit - that's the exit bit first. Then grab the baffle and wiggle the other end free from outside of the exhaust. Ok now cutting and repacking it and putting it back together...
