Weirdness.

  1. I've put that video up a few times on here, the company is Racefit just down the road from me, they did the exhaust for Guy Martins wall of death bike.

  2. They knew the risks.

Well, they've discovered the risks. Well, they've discovered the price.

    But it's almost the same.

  3. Yeah, that's it. The invoice for the work is almost as ball-clenching.

  4. Anyone have any ideas what might have caused this issue with my bike, please?

  5. Who cares?
With an exhaust note like that I would ride it with no suspension .
    Cracking bike.

  6. Ha. Thanks!

I HATE these mystery problems. Bend my brain.

  7. Ok on a serious note I will try.
When you first rode the bike was it warmish? IE the outside temperature?
When you took the bike out again and noticed it was rock hard was it a lot colder?
I have full ohlins on my bike and when I go out on a cold morning it's like riding a dog, rock hard and feels like the suspension has not woken up yet.
This is because the Ohlins oil is a single grade oil and not a multigrade oil like the engine oil, and takes a while before it reaches it's optimum operating temperature, the viscosity when it's cold restricts it's flow around the shim stack and again they are cold .

  8. I know what you're saying, and thank you for taking the time. I totally understand what you mean.

Annoyingly, it was actually warmer when it went shit than the 7 or 8 previous rides I've had when it was fine. That's why it's so baffling.

I'm wondering if it's a suspension linkage thing. If something in the rear sus was not great that would transfer a lot of hits into my back and make the whole thing feel shite. It's actually made my back sore as fuck today, that's how different it is.

  9. How much Rioja and cake had you had the night before?

  10. Ooo that's not good then.
I am sorry but I have no idea of the rear linkage set up on this machine so cannot help.
The only pointers I can give is that are the springs correct for your weight?
Perhaps a visit to a reputable suspension specialist is worth the effort as riding a bike with to hard springs will never be right or enjoyable given the terrific machine that you own.
Or you could leave it with me for a week or 2 and I can sort it for you.

  11. None. And that's an even bigger mystery in itself.

  12. Ha. You're too good to me, man. Thank you.

I've actually already had it set up for my weight/ riding style/ type, which is I suspect partly why it was as good as it was and also why I'm reluctant to mess with the settings. It was working, I've changed nothing, now it isn't. Twiddling with the settings when it might not be them seems wrong somehow.

  13. I think I know what's wrong with it, but I'd need to try it out first to see if I get the same result. Should have an answer after say 2-3000 miles...happy to help.

  14. Perhaps it's you that's changed then- eating pasties in your sleep? It's a medical condition.

  15. Just having read the OP, the first thing that strikes me is whether the 2.9 bar of pressure in tyres was set when the tyres were warm or cold. As tyres heat up the pressure will increase and so if, as stated, you tested the tyres immediately after returning from a ride and they were 2.9 bar, then I hazard a guess that they were lower than that when you started your ride. Try checking the pressure is 2.9 bar prior to your next ride?

  16. Any joy in sorting this phenomenon out?

  17. I just cant see it being tyre pressures, they would have to be dramatically different to notice a harder ride, changing tyre pressures normally just change the amount of deformation of the carcass.

This will then affect how warm they run, you would mainly feel any difference in the steering. I would get a ruler and check the static sag for starters and try and eliminate any glaring suspension problems, it is an odd one I'll grant you that..

  18. Are the forks and shock compressing and rebounding correctly .
When it was set up did you note the settings for rebound comp and preload , if so check it's still on these settings and someone hasn't fecked about with it .
Could something have broken in the suspension ( back to is it rebounding etc).

  19. Any further update on the Desmo??

  20. What's really weird about this, is that it is apparently at both ends.
