996 Which Oil For Racing 996sps?

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Ash34, Feb 10, 2017.

  1. I'm prepping the bike for this season and not sure if fully synthetic should be used because the bike is solely for racing and in a hot climate.

    What do I use?

  2. I remember recently several posts that contain the information you are looking for, search for Opie Oils. IIRC the figures in the oil descriptor ie 10/40 refers to the oil viscocity at the temperature range so the higher the second figure the more suitable it is to higher ambient temperatures. You should be fine with a good quality fully synthetic 15/50. I use Motul 300v. Andy

  5. not much in it mate.

  6. I use chip pan oil and it has worked fine in my BMW for 500,000 miles so it must be the best! :)

  7. On wet clutch, with regular changes, better with semi synth as the plates can slip with hard use otherwise.

But yours is dry so totally useless info :tearsofjoy:

  8. I use Motul 300V 10w40 Double Ester Fully Synthetic oil in my 955SP. It's a groovy lime green colour. :sunglasses:
