Had a skive today so mostly riding around Dumfires and Galloway, eating ice cream at Rockliffe. mmmmm.
Not needed at work today so went over to the flat where my sister was living to see the clearance people finally clear it after 18 months of my prevarication and procrastination. Picked up my shiny new Daytona boots and went over to see my god son's twins whose birthday it was yesterday. I was convinced it was today but hey, at 4 years old it doesn't matter when people bring you presents . Back home and looking forward to a KP Dansak for tea. Andy
I went to the local BMW dealer and sat on and got finance figures for an S1000r. Never seen one before up close, found it very comfortable. Mighty tempting to push the button. The heated grips were a revelation.
S1r is a cracking bike. Handles much better than superduke gt. Bit vibey at some revs only downside. Tbh, despite the tests, I thought it was a quicker roadbike than the KTM. Just need a decent screen fitted as the standard one does little to deflect wind blast.
Interesting you have said that, as it's between that and the KTM - think i prefer the Beemer, purely on the looks though as haven't ridden either. It's for commuting so think the BMW may be more suitable.
BMW is more comfy/more capable. Costs less, depreciation less. Also the torque is good (without having to make a big allowance for being an inline4). Quick shifter works better. Assuming you go for the Sport with electronic damping etc. there is a load more adjustment than the Sduke gt. The S1 can be set for sag, then fine tuned. Additional to the other settings in the menu. I set mine up to the manual, then backed the front off two turns which made a big difference to turn in without sacrificing stability. Only sold at the time as my missus started going out again on the back. If you gel with the bike then expect around 1500miles from a rear, buy another as the front will last. Then switch to a pair of M7rr . The pirellis were a hoot, grip, grip and more but mileage not enough for road use.
Thanks mate, very informative. I'm sure i will like it as the alternative (which i am doing now and it's killing me) is British Rail. Am definitely going for the Sport as want the grips and electronic suspension. Sounded nicer than i thought it would too, plenty loud enough to alert our 4 wheeled friends while i'm filtering. What pipe did you have on yours?
^^ standard exhaust, sounded good with a nice pop when backing off from higher revs. Surprised they could get away with it tbh.
The guy today said that, and it did sound good while stationary, which is a nice positive to the wallet. Might book myself in for a test ride at the weekend, just need to measure if it will fit down the side of my house otherwise it's going to have to be a C90!
Powder checks complete and now just waiting for the fog to lift just a little bit more so I can at least see Carole's bum on her Diavel in front if me . Not quite sure where we are going to go but wherever it is, it will definitely involve eating bacon and/or sausages and drinking hot, strong coffee . Andy
Got released from Strangeways prison today, after serving my sentence. Wasn't too bad, as they trained me to repair archery equipment as part of my rehabilitation. I'm now on the straighten arrow
Irritatingly quick on TD's. My mate had heated grips on his Dorsoduro, couldn't turn them off all summer, his hands where melting. Well funny .
We went to Halifax Piece Hall today. The council have done a marvellous job in restoring it. It's beautiful architecturally, with a lot of nice little shops and cafes there now. And it was fairly busy, which was nice to see. However I think they are missing a trick in attracting more visitors. The central plaza is an ideal space to have some kind of attraction there at the weekend. It would have been lovely to see perhaps a band playing there or maybe street performers interacting with the public. May be they'll do it in the run up to Xmas?
