Fuel Tank Vent

Discussion in 'Monster' started by Oganeil, Nov 5, 2017.

  1. My Monster S2R seems to have fuel tank venting problems.
After just a short ride, if I open the fuel cap I get a "vacuum" sound.
Any advice on how to check the vents?
    Cheers,

  2. Find the small vent hole in the tank where the fuel cap seats (on the M600 it is towards the back of the recessed filler) and put an airline in it and blow it out.

You should hear the air coming out of the vent pipe down near the swingarm. Just be careful not to blow the pipe off the bottom of the tank connection. No big deal if you do, just lift the tank and push it back on the stub.

The vent pipe often gets blocked with crud after a while.

  3. Cheers Samurai. I'll give that a try!

  4. The tank cap contains check valves for both in and out, it mates to the recessed filler via a rubber stub at the rear when closed. The hole to left you can see is the drain.
