Why are there so many low mileage ducati around are they easy to clock or do they just not get ridden !! Richie
Cant get the old Bar-Stewards ( '97 900SS ) to start in the cold weather ( ie all the time in the Yuk )
Probably a bit of both, but despite the fact that mine is a summer diva and a her indoors in the winter, it still has 20 thousand miles on it. So not everyone sits and admires them. But seriously I suspect many middle aged born again wannabees buy them and realise its a bit late to recapture their youth ,particularlyon a Ducati Superbike.
1700 miles in 4 months warm and dry riding only didn't pay 12k to look at it, bring on the spring Richie
And a lot of us own and ride other bikes too......and yeah I do like to look at my Ducati frequently too!
It's a weather and time thing for me too - i like to keep in shape which means gym, swim, cycle (ie mountain bike) etc - which i can mostly do whenever but sometimes does cut across suitable Ducati time too. But NYR this year is to ride more.
Mine was 5 months old with 250 miles on it when I bought it, second hand! It amazes me as well but at least someone else pays the VAT for me!! Bought in July 2012, now has around 4600 on it! I can't stay off the thing.
I've seen a fair few bikes for sale with that kind of mileage. All makes, not just Ducatis. I really can't understand how someone can sell it without even running it in... Unless its some kind of change in circumstances that forces a sale... My resolution is also to ride more. And it's gonna happen. I used to ride way more than I have done the past 2 years so its back up the priority list. Once I take delivery of the bike that is.
I looked at a 1198s in May, when I was shopping around for mine. It was two years old, and the dealer was proud that it would have a full service including belt change before sale. It had less than 100 miles on the clock. In the seven months since I've clocked over 3k on mine and 4k on the ZZR. They're there to be used I reckon!
My old 748 is a typical Italian lady, in the cold she looks better wrapped up warm than out in the cold. But when the sun shines, she does too........(don't tell my wife I said that, right?)
When you have done a 55-60 hour week, then done all the family stuff on Saturday, then it pisses it down on the Sunday, as it has most of the year, it's not suprising that miles don't get added, that's my excuse anyway.
i suppose most people buy a ducati fall in love with the looks then realize they cant ride it or cant cope with italian quirks and things going wrong and then realize they should have bought a cbr fireplace thingy lol
