Ducati World Première 2018 - Chat Thread

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Rob, Nov 5, 2017.

  1. I couldn’t live with a cock-eyed S1000RR. An R1M or a GSXR are pretty in their own way.

  2. New blade SP2 looks pretty darn good though CF

  3. I think Ducati have missed a massive opportunity with this V4, just doesn't do it for me...

No where near as pretty as the Panigale twins, it's proportions are a bit out of whack to me, too much mass towards the front of the bike and the headlamps look stupidly low, positioned below the bottom yoke by the looks of it.
Seems as though it hasn't been designed as a whole from scratch, just a mish-mash of bits grafted onto a Panigale V2 donor bike.

They should have copied the Moto GP bikes silhouette and air intake, perhaps some mini "downforce wings " and given it a double sided swinger to differentiate it further.

V4 Special ??....Ducati have created so many specials over the years they are in danger of becoming pretty ordinary!!

And WTF did they let "Nosferatu the Vampire" do all the intro chat?????

  4. Yeah true but the plastic bits over the tank bother me.

  5. Probably already on it, assuming the V4 will appear in other models? Personally I'd like to see it go the other way and produce a midrange V4

  7. Yes I'm sure they'll already be on to the next generation/iteration already.

I don't quite understand this attraction for a smaller capacity V4 - if you wanted less power then why not just have a V2 ?

  8. Agree, but they could be done in carbon or colour coded easily, and its a beautifully balanced design to my eyes ?

  9. Wasn't it cause of emissions AD ??

  10. Yeah it’s quite classic looking. Not in the market for a bigger sports bike, but if I was I’d consider it. It doesn’t have the ‘want’ factor that a panigale or some of the others have for me. It’s just one of those instant first impressions things. I’m sure it’s better to ride as a novice than the likes of a 1199 or even R1M.

  11. Ah could be yeah!

  12. Yeah - kind of on both...but - still pointless - whoose going to buy a brand spanking 1100v4 and then pull it apart to turn it into a 1000? - it seems to me to be a "moving the goalposts to get round the euro4 stuff" - if they made a 1000c version their numbers would probably be the same as all the other litre bikes at the moment - the 1100 angle give them the power and the bragging rights but in reality one of the crucial jobs it was created for - it cant do..... ie - for your regular joe to go and take racing....

  13. Yeah I'd imagine too that is easier to deal with than the 1199/R1M, adjustable slide control... all of a sudden everyone is gonna be a hero, it's just not fair!

  14. But it's different geometry, looks, newer technology and better electronics. I'll be the first to admit my 15 R is too powerful for me, but the rest of it is just amazing to me.

    As if by magic

  15. No, the V4R was created to do that. The Stradale was created as a road and track bike.

  16. Ok that just made me throw up.

  17. Sorry, I misunderstood you. Yes I'd fully expect an 800 (or whatever) V4 to be coming soon. Agreed - the technology and geometry in this new bike are stellar.

  18. But it cant be a track bike as its an 1100! it could be a track day bike (but not a race bike) as its 1100 status makes it illegal as it were...

What im getting at is you can buy any other litre bike (or ducati panigale) and race it....apart from the H2 (to give an extreme example) this to me is akin to that...

Dont get me wrong it looks beautiful....its just now a bit limiting....think of the pub arguments that are going to sprout from this.....:) plus more to the point....any magazine shootouts are going to be pointless....rsv4rf vs panigale 1100....waste of time...

  19. Whether it floats your boat or not, this is progress.

  20. There are still plenty of older Ducatis out there if that what people want.

If the Company didn’t build bikes to compete then they would be a small niche company building retro bikes for old men.
