1200 DVT 2018 Multistrada

  1. No mate, they now state the figures differently, if you look on the DUK site now, they only state 152bhp for the 1200. It was too do with calculated crank figures so they have had to change it, so the bhp has risen by a few on the 1260, but not much

  2. I believe the official site says it's an option only for the base model. Standard for everything else.

  5. No problem Gareth, from my understanding, Ducati had been calculating crank figures based on rear wheel figures, well it turns out that the engine, gearbox and chain etc didnt lose quite as much power as they thought, hence the new crank figures are lower. Yet another way of over inflating the crank figures. Why don't all manufacturers just give us a rear wheel power figure and have done with it. But if you do some google digging about "Ducati lower power figures", its all over the net.

  6. To be truthful Wayne, it's still to bloody fast for me even though it's lost a few BHP :worried:

  7. Can never have too fast "G", but its adequate for keeping up with traffic :D

  8. Slightly bemused by the whole live stream if I’m honest. Maybe the enthusiasm of Claudio was lost in translation but even seemed like he couldn’t be arsed with it all. Much better last year in English although accept he nor the brand are not Not sure what I make of the new 1260. I’ll see it first hand at NEC and decide then if a want the test ride. I would have been happy for the torque improvements and the QS but the frame surely has an impact on sports feel cornering? I like my white bike with red frame and not keen on the black although it could look pretty sweet in the flesh.

  9. New Prices on 2018 models;
    Panigale V4 £19,250
    959 Panigale Corse £15,895
    Scrambler 1100 from £10,695 to £12,295

  10. Frightening figures.

  11. I bet that 18500 for the 1260 ain't the PP though, as they are already 20?

  12. So if it is 18500 for an S, then they can defo kiss my ass, as that'll be near 20 with panniers etc..... Feck that!!

  13. I agree buddy...FOOKIN' having a larf.....PP must be at least 22K plus i bet.........ridiculous amount of money for a bike IMHO.......and who has that type of money to burn now....the only people buying these will be on PCP deals, but with the interest rate rise recently I can foretell the bubble will burst soon on these PCP deals....

  14. Surely not, £18k for the S?

If so I genuinely think ducati need to stop believing their own hype

  15. A very close friend of mine works in the financial sector, and has done for over 30 years. About a year back, he said the whole pcp and lease deal idea bubble will burst in 3-5 years max. It's down to a flood of near unsellable used stock (cause nobody buys cars and bike's anymore) and said there's no "real" money in it. He also said its unsustainable for the manufacturers as they are simply not getting the revenue from bargain pcp deals to maintain the business.

  16. It is indeed a piss take Damo, and think thats my cue to go orange after the DVT.

  17. I'll second ya there Wayne....Orange is gonna be in my garage next.....just waiting for the deep winter to hit then i'll buy a S......and take a 12 month holiday on it for what i've saved buying another Multley!

  18. Which S mate? The 1290 SA?

  19. Yep....In orange of course!...can't think of any other bike unless you have a few ideas? defo don't want a GS!!!

  20. I'm not down playing Ducati at all, but the cold reality is that the bikes they're churning out are not in any real measurable way better than anything else, ok better than a lot, but very rarely top of the pack.

Take the superbikes as an example, it's rare that even the 1299 comes out top on track tests as riders find the alternatives either easier to go faster, or they're simply just faster.

I appreciate it's always tight at the top, and on occasion a Panigale might win by a few tenths on the odd test here or there, but how much more can Ducati reasonable charge for the 'passion and soul' tax?

    It's a bit bollocks really.

Reliability isn't exactly any better than most, you can gauge a lot of that by the fact most after market warranty companies either won't touch them or they charge double of anything else.

I suppose on some models they look the part, and yes might be on the better looking scale of the alternatives within the group, but looks are also subjective and 'pretty' isn't always what people want, I personally prefer angry or aggressive styling.

I'd still quite like a Panigale I guess, but I simply cannot bring myself to buy a new 959 because at that price I'd rather take a full fat 1000Cc R1 or S1000rr knowing that it'd smoke a 959 on track, the beemer being better on the road as well.

If I go 2nd hand then I'm back to the warranty problem, and whichever way you slice it if you're spending £10k+ on a modern Ducati superbike you'd hope someone would be confident enough to offer warranty, but so far I can't find any
