I was umming and ahhing about the new V4, and for some reason, I woke up this morning thinking sod it...I'll put my name down on an R. Whilst ordering, the dealer asks if I want to put 200 down for a V4s, "No thanks, I'd rather have two "R"s" "Well how about I put your name on 2 for £500 each (instead of £1000 per order)" "Go on then" So now I have 18 months or so to save up £75-80k Brave, stupid or what? I was thinking the first V4 R would be collectable, so hopefully a brave move!
It hit home when I told my brother and he pointed out the possible cost of the pair. I'm hoping it will be so hugely popular that there will be a 12 month+ waiting list and someone with "more brass than sense" will offer me a huge sum for one! From no bike to a 1098s and ordering two V4 Rs in a month.... best not tell the wife just yet!
Did they quote a price for the bike. I ordered th Speciale yesterday at 44,000€ (with magnesium wheels) so I'd be interested to see how that compares? I haven't told the young lady yet!
Haha amazing I want to be top of the list on an R as well. I'm not sure I'd be doing two of them!! Its tricky as the regulations have changed so whilst we know it will be <£35k; there's a rev limit so its less likely to be a completely nutty bike that loses Ducati money with mega tech just so they can win the Championship. I'm still betting on a winner, I just hope the showroom spec doesn't require a fortune to be spent to get it sorted for track. I'm seriously considering going for a Superstock race bike instead of a road bike if there happens to be an option to have it with the race exhaust and whatnot. Probably a bit optimistic there I suppose.
